(after a pause) How'm I gonna know 'bout you? They might kill you an' I wouldn't know. They might hurt you. How'm I gonna know?

    TOM
    (laughing uneasily)
Well, maybe it's like Casy says, a fella ain't got a soul of his own, but on'y a piece of a big soul--the one big soul that belongs to ever'body--an' then...

    MA
    Then what, Tom?

    TOM
Then it don't matter. Then I'll be all aroun' in the dark. I'll be ever'where--wherever you look. Wherever there's a fight so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad--an'I'll be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry an' they know supper's ready. An' when our people eat the stuff they raise, an' live in the houses they build, why, I'll be there too.

    MA
    (slowly)
    I don't understan' it, Tom.

    TOM
    (dryly)
    Me neither.
    (Rising)
It's jus' stuff I been thinkin' about.
    Gimme you han', Ma. Good-by.
    (He climbs over the fence)

    *sighs*

Can ya tell I was raised by hard workin' factory workin folks? LOL

The event was that we got to watch "Bambi."

One of the characters in the movie was a hunter. He stalked his prey. He shot. He killed. Ninety-nine redneck kids cheered. I cried.

Don't even ask me about gym class.

Me too... but I cry sooner, I cry when the Airport Shuttle Bus pulls up in the "surrounding" area of Disneyland. I am just so happy to be there.

About a third into the movie, tears started flowing down my face. They wouldn't/didn't stop. About two-thirds into the movie, the "wet eyes" turned into crying and wouldn't let up. When the movie ended, I was crying harder than before. I was embarrassed to be so out of control in front of Dave; I beelined for the bathroom. I sobbed in there for two or three minutes before I could get enough control to come out and talk.

Our "date" ended up fine. Peggy and Dave were also touched by the movie. I convinced them that I was fine; they convinced me that they were perfectly okay going out for drinks, as planned, even with my red and swollen face. We talked about it. It ended up being very nice.

I still don't know why the movie hit me that hard. It still makes me cry when I watch it on DVD.

Also, Glory, in the end scene where they all get barried together, makes me howel.

Mrs Doubtfire made me cry the 1st time I saw it.

And how could I forget about ET?

Cocoon made me cry as well.

Man, I'm a wreck. Inspector, I empathise. when doing my AA, I was 18, in history class, and we were watching Glory - I cried like a baby. How embarrassing. I did get a date out of it though!

Ghost is another one that gets me.

Pay It Forward is a good tearjerker. Armageddon also gets me, especially when Liv Tyler's character is saying goodbye to her dad. I had to watch both of those movies (along with Powder) in my religious studies class a couple of years ago, and I was bawling in class, lol.

Whoops...I forgot about that one. It has a similar effect on me, especially during the "funeral pyre" scene...

I cry at the end of Silent Running (yes the Bruce Dern Sci Fi movie) when I admitted this to DH said if you don't cry at Silent Running you've got no heart. So true! I get a little misty thinking about the end even though I haven't seen it in maybe 20 or more years.

I just bought this on DVD! I remember it fondly from my childhood, and I'm looking forward to see how it will hold up to my adult self.

Hilary and Jackie. Excellent bio-pic. My sis-in-law bugged me for years to watch it and I'm glad I finally did. Needed a ton of kleenex because I didn't know about the end, but it was worth it.
