But part of it has to do with the vaguely sinister and decadent feeling presented by portions of the attraction... especially the Pleasure Island section. I dont know why more people dont like Pinocchio? there is so much to look at and yes a little bit dark. I guess Pinocchio could be considered scary for young children like Snow white.

Had Superstar Limo been more like that it would probably have lasted. And I love the idea of using classic stars vs. modern day(at the time). Problem is, many kids don't have any idea who Katharine Hepburn or Cary Grant are.

Originally Posted By Dabob2 <But I think it is the one ride that is almost 100% painted flats.> See, that's neither here nor there to me. Flats vs. macquettes is just a difference in medium. What matters to me is if the experience works. Casablanca may not have the whiz-bang technology of Pearl Harbor (the movie), but which is the better flick? The Triplets of Belleville may have what some would consider primitive animation compared to even a lesser Disney film like The Sword in the Stone. But I'd much rather watch TofB - it works a lot better than SitS. To me, Toad just works, and I love every trip through. TMMV. <The train effect is pretty good> The train effect was actually much better pre-'83. They used to have a longer tunnel. Post '83 the effect hardly starts before it's over. It used to really build, and it felt much more like you were going over train tracks, too. OTOH, Hell is way better now than the very short section they had originally.

Is it smart to design an entire attraction that 99.99999% of kids will have no idea what it's about, or even be able to recognize any of the "celebrities" featured? Can you think of any kid who would enjoy a ride like that?

The dangers of proscenium type attractions vs attractions built in the round is that the focus is always straight ahead directed to the stage.
