Watching some of them come unglued over the past 4 years has been amusing yet depressing. Many years from now, it's going to be even more shameful to look back at the birther nonsense, "terrorist fist jabs" , "Barack the Magic Negro" and the countless other examples of racism regarding this president. The GOP can't seem to understand why it has such trouble attracting blacks and Latinos, and yet, look at what William wrote and the stuff GOP pundits and candidates say every day. There's your answer.

If Romney has core principles, he's yet to make a believable case for what they might be. He says he wants to repeal Obamacare and replace it with... something. I am worried how he will perform on the international stage -- he managed to offend England, for pity's sake. Where do you go from there?

There are still too many angry old white guys watching Fox News and listening to Rush that the GOP can't ignore, in order to start courting minority voters. Once that Fox News demographic starts dying off at a faster rate, then the GOP will give the minorities more attention. But they're not quite there yet. Those angry old farts still comprise a hefty chunk of the Republican base.

Who swore up and down that invasion was a "last resort," which was revealed as a lie - they were spoiling for an invasion BEFORE 9/11 (which Iraq didn't have anything to do with anyway); before Bush was inaugurated, even. John Bolton & Co. are the ones advising Romney on foreign policy. And since Romney has zero experience himself, he'd pretty much HAVE to listen to his advisers, to a greater extent than other presidents. These people believe in preemptive wars (how'd that work out for us last time?) and in having a large US footprint all over the world, no matter how much it costs (in terms of lives, or dollars) and no matter how counterproductive it ultimately is for us. The invasion of Iraq remains deeply unpopular among moderates - including the relatively few persuadable voters left - and Obama has a golden opportunity in the third debate to tie Romney to neocon policies, based not only on who he's surrounding himself with, but on Romney's own statements during the primaries and during the 2008 campaign. It's a golden opportunity to put Romney on the defensive, both during the debate, and in its aftermath.

Everyone always likes to throw out the worst-case scenarios (god knows the right-wingers did it 4 years ago) but they are rarely likely to happen.
