That's because we were being lied to by the Bush administration. We trusted them to tell us the truth and to bring the perpetrators of 9/11 to justice, but of course they didn't and here we are with $1 trillion wasted in Iraq and 4,500 of our troops lost. All for what? If someone wants to characterize the two current candidates as evil, fine, but at least do your country a favor and vote for the lesser evil of the two. Worst case scenarios can and do happen.

Destroyed any credibility he had.

Once again, I think back to the 2000 election when Bush won Florida by a slim margin becoming only the second president in history to win the election without the majority of the popular vote. Suppose Gore had gotten some of those third party votes in Florida and other states; he would have won the election and changed the course of history.

Well of course, because I believe that equal rights are in the best interest of all citizens, whether they be gay, straight, male, female, transgender, black, white or whatever.

Originally Posted By Kar2oonMan >>I see my vote as a way to make the nation better, not to make it better for me.<< Exactly! I try to look first at what's best for the country (or city or state) when I vote. Because ultimately, that's in my own best interest as well. Similarly, rather than always asking am I better off, I ask if the country is better off than 4 years ago. And by every measure, the answer to that is a resounding YES. Think back to the panic of Sept. 2008. Who knew how we'd ever get out of that mess? I don't know where this idea that every vote has to be in my own self interest came from. It gets repeated a lot, but it always sounds a little selfish and myopic to me.
