Walt did nothing but tell the public what he thought, what he liked, what was his interest, what his guiding principals were for decades!! Folks have made millions retelling everyone EXACTLY what Walt thought in books, dvds and now museums. It's like saying all the historians in the world can't surmise what ancient rulers would have thought about .... Here is a public figure going on record hundreds if not thousands of times in the mid 20th century. Not too hard to draw a correlation. It's a simple intenet habit, that at times irks me, for those not in agreement with whatever correlation is made to invoke modern times or other WWWD wackos who were over the top. But back to base, yes, most folks who invoke Walt do so erroneously or through their own prism. Regardless, my original post was not to make a statement about what Walt would like/dislike. It was to draw a juxtaposition between the words Walt and his team used in their communication style and those of his corporate successors. To me, one came across heartfelt and genuine, the other cold, sterile, and unnatural.

Walt's basic thoughts are known when it comes to important things. And Disney puts those quotes on construction walls that OCD photogs take 974 pics a week of. It's pretty obvious what Walt's take would be on many things. For instance, there's no way of knowing whether he would have approved of having a chain of mall stores (I doubt it, but we don't know). But I do know IF he did, that he wouldn't want it to be a filthy ghetto-like experience filled with low quality crap for simply the under-10 crowd like the store I was in for 10 minutes this afternoon. It's hard to know a lot of big things ... like would he want the CoP to still be around in 2011. But I can be quite confident that he would NEVER allow it to be operated in the shape it is in today. It really is all about the basics ...
