    But when it affects the atmosphere on a message board, bothers longtime posters (not even talking about me here), and keeps people away, something should be said.

    I've kept my mouth shut lately because I didn't want to rock the boat, but when someone starts a thread about the things I've been concerned about (and many people start commenting similarly), I'm going to say what I think needs to be said.

    Oh I agree, I'm just saying that you shouldn't let it bother you. It isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

    Btw, I don't think you are rocking the boat, just voicing a POV.

    A: Nothing.

Out of the 4 versions Paris has the finest facade to beckon the guest, pre story(queue line) and main story---- not surprising since it is the newest and sits in by far the most elaborate "Magic Kingdom"/"Disneyland" style park.

    Why do you say that? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but could you expand on that?

    Let's be clear. This quote:

    >>>Of course, there's also the possibility that spending some time in Central Florida is preferable to living in...say, Louisiana, in which case maybe some of the people sensitive to WDW criticism ("don't say that, Mickey has feelings, too, y'know!") are just happy to be eating hamburgers somewhere that isn't their hometown.<<<
    Clearly this was aimed at one specific poster, and was NOT cool to my way of thinking. <<

    Was written by me. Give credit where credit's due.

    So if my posts are mistaken for Spirit's, that ought to be worth honorary induction into the Official Walt Disney World Doom and Gloom (And Pixie Dust Potty) Fan Club, right?

    I am not here to spread pixie dust;
    I said nothing in my OP in this thread to warrant it disappearing except, perhaps, using an old SNL-line on Danny that I have used in jest dozens of times here and if it was acceptable in the 1970s on network TV, one would think it should be OK here unless my good buddy Jeff 'I borrow Disney's intellectual property, so I don't have to get a real job' Lange has become a moderator;
    I would not have even wasted my time with this thread had Nikki not baited me because she does have issues with me;
    I will not apologize for calling things as I see them and ripping TWDC's business model for WDW and those who defend mediocrity because they are comfortable with it;
    I think WDW was a better place in the 70s, 80s and 90s, but I also KNOW far more people could afford to visit ... maybe not stay on property, but everything else was FAR less pricey for far higher quality, so this isn't about keeping folks out ... fewer people can afford WDW today;
    I will not apologize for being a proud intellectual, Disney/media insider and, yeah, elitist;
    I don't think I am better than anyone because I travel more extensively than some (but not nearly as much as I'd like);
    I do think that many folks are jealous of those of us who DO get to travel around the planet while they are stuck with a week at WDW every year (and yes, Yellowstone would be a nice changeup!);

    And, finally, I do think it amusing and more than coincidence that some folks take shots at others when they are not even involved in a discussion thinking that if they try really hard they can get all the haters out and try and silence voices that are divergent from their own. That IS what the haters are about.

    That's just sad.

    Much like the state of WDW today.

    Oh, and it's a very stale tactic too.

    It's only as complicated as you make it..... ;-)

    Anyway, I thought this thread was about what is bad at WDW... not what is bad on Laughingplace.com.....

    Lack of edit feature, lack of avatars, not enough Duffy, plush, and Wishes.

    For the record, I didn't take any offense to the "Dan you ingnorant ****" line, as I recognized it for what it was. The Spirit does indeed joke a lot, but his lack of smiley faces (which he has admitted he is loathe to use) can cause one to think he's being rude. We have a long history of baiting each other, so the snideness rolls off of my massive shoulders with no damage at all.

    Where the Spirit and I agree is that there are many things Disney and particularly Team Disney Orlando are doing wrong. Where we disagree is in the impact of those company decisions. I continue to watch Disney and their moves in Florida, and I agree with some and disagree with many more. But the Spirit tends to be more vocal in his disgust about WDW management, to the point that it really can negatively influence others. And that's where I see the problem. As I keep saying, the balance is off. When 9 posts out of 10 are about problems with WDW, it's easy for anyone but us old timers to think that he hates WDW and wishes we'd all not go there and let it die. And that's not the case with my friend the Spirit. It's all about tone, and sometimes he's hard to read.

    I know this shouldn't become the "Spirit - Love Him Or Hate Him" thread. But his name has come up several times, he's here to defend, and I think it continues to be a valuable discussion.

I did find lots of canned goods and peanut butter to donate for the food drive tho'. Nothing against WalMart or Target I just don't like huge stores. Anyway Spirit keeps these boards interesting by challenging our mindset. I have said things on this board that have been misinterpreted or not understood at all. It is hard to have a printed online conversation.If I find myself taking it personal I usually take a time out to let it calm down again. And like dan said we have been reading these boards for along time and know how to take some of the regulars. I think it is important to know we still have the freedom on LP to say almost anything and it is important to let posters know if it was offensive or report it to the mods. I just do not understand people who get angry and say sayonara to all. That is allowing your antagonizer or offender to win and have way too much power over you as a human being. So please try to remain a loyal LPer.
    And to those that have left(most recently davewasbaloo)you are missed tremendously.Take care and come back to all.

    People are too self concerned, think that they are the center of the universe, and everyone should abide by THEIR perceptions, THEIR wishes, THEIR complaints about others.

    Just the wonderful warped psychology our society fosters in this age of instant pleasures and gratification.

    "If I don't like something/someone MY wishes must be adhered to...If you don't agree, you are wrong".

    Depressing psychology, no?
