They are ruining the discussion with their stereotypes, and they shouldn't be excused for that. The hero worship that occurs of those with so skewed a viewpoint is disturbing.<<<< Because it's ALWAYS been a joke. I don't disagree with you, though, if it's bothering you, it should stop.

Like vbdad, I've been on these boards for 10 years - he's seen it, Trippy has seen it, and it continues today. People won't come on these boards because of the overwhelming negativity. Have you ever noticed that the same people post over and over again? Very rarely are there any newcomers. I agree that WDW needs to improve and they aren't as "on their game" as they used to be. It's the rehashing, vitrol, and elitism (not wanting things to be the best, but talking down to people and talking badly about people) that I have a problem with. It's a very large part of why I rarely post anymore - I've made more posts on this topic in the last day than I've made on the board as a whole in the last several months. It's why I skim through most posts. It's the same thing, posted by the same people, repeatedly. Which is why new, active posters that stay around for more than a few days is a rarity. It's also why people from the DL boards who also visit WDW have said they don't come over here.

I'd imagine you are a bit sad that the FLE will be tearing down some of your Birthday-land work down?

Since we remain stationary so long the 'snow' and 'rock formations' don't look nearly as real and the the bird effect looks even more fake than if we would have made it to the crest and then slowly backed away...... we just have way too much time up there which causes guests to notice imperfections in story(details/theme). But it is not just the long down time it is the down time **COUPLED** with the very close proximity of the show scenes to the train **AND** being outdoors that make the effects and details look less real. Compare that to say Pirates where the boats move slow, but still move nonetheless, with most of the show scenes further away from the guest and all indoors.........the story looks more real. Now to give credit where is it most defintely due the broken tracks up there and draped tibetan flags were done masterfully ///The bird on a stick, while not the greatest effect, is at least working again./// Very glad to read that also---- a working weak effect is far better than a broken weak effect. ///The video appearance of the yeti is a very nice effect/// If video had to be used then designers were smart to use the shadowy image to build up the mystique of the creature and overall suspense BUT using a fully realized AA would have been 10 times better.

Some of the put-downs I've read, specifically about the quality of people that the All Stars and DVC attract, are dead serious and very insulting. I also agree that if people complained about the Value Resorts attracting Blacks to the resort rather than rednecks (even if it was a 'joke') it would not be tolerated for a minute. In 1992 the MK had 11.5 million visitors; in 2009 it was 17.5 million, almost a 50% increase. Clearly the development of the Value and Moderate resorts during the 90's allowed a great many more people to come to WDW. As far as I’m concerned that is a GOOD thing. But any time you increase attendance by that much in a park the experience will be somewhat diminished. It just isn't possible to maintain the same level of cleanliness and 'perfection' with that many more visitors no matter how many additional people you hire. Add to that the general decline in the civility and public behavior of Americans over the past 20 years and you are going to have issues. It is not just a WDW problem; it is an American problem. But that is all I will say about that. It would be nice if the few who engage in insulting behavior would change it rather than denying it. I’m not holding my breath.

Although I was an adult well into my 30's before going to WDW, I 'grew up' with that park. For me many aspects of the Magic Kingdom are superior to Disneyland. The water surrounding the hub at the Magic Kingdom gives a far greater feeling that you are entering different lands than what you get at Disneyland. To me this is especially pronounced with the bridges to Adventureland and Tomorrowland. At the Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland is a true LAND. At Disneyland it is more like Tomorrowcorner. Even though Space Mountain and Buzz at DL are superior attractions to their MK counterparts, the MK Tomorrowland is in my opinion a far superior land. I can enjoy walking around MK's Tomorrowland and just taking in the atmosphere... especially after dark; not so at DL. DL's Tomorrowland is more a go on your rides and get out of there kind of land. One of the things that greatly helps the MK's version is of course the TTA. How can you have a land of the future without some type of futuristic transit system? Yes, DL has the monorail, but that just brings you in and out of the park... it doesn't compare to the TTA's 'tour' of Tomorrowland. For me Adventureland at the MK also seems a much more distinct and self-contained land where at DL it is more like Adventurecorner. The inclusion of Pirates in WDW's Adventureland is vastly superior to setting it in DL's New Orleans Square. You set sail for the Caribbean out of a N'awlins bayou? REALLY?? To me the story is far stronger when you are leaving from a Caribbean fortress. Yes, the DL version is twice as long. It allows you to almost forget where you leave from (and return to!) by the end of the ride. I far prefer the story told by the MK's 'here to there' version than DL's 'here to here' version. DL's Critter Country is just a hodge-podge. Thematically, Splash Mountain fits far better in the MK’s Frontierland and Pooh far better in Fantasyland than they do stuck together at DL in Critter Country. The one major plus I see to DL is Fantasyland. DL's Fantasyland is far better than the MK's... at least for now. We will have to see what the MK's new addition looks like. Do I enjoy Disneyland? Of course I do. I don't go around counting burned out light-bulbs or paint-chips; I enjoy all Disney parks. I feel there are some things that DL does better, but I also think there are things that the MK does much better. Neither is a perfect park... or a poor one.

Only thing Disneyland has wrong in their Adventureland is Tarzan taking over the treehouse, but that is made up for by Indy, and attraction I'd trade all of WDW's Adventureland save the Jungle Cruise to have. <<The inclusion of Pirates in WDW's Adventureland is vastly superior to setting it in DL's New Orleans Square.
