It isn't for everyone, and there are a few gross scenes of war, but quite a compelling movie.

But for me, neither of those things was enough to counter the fact that the movie was also completely, blatantly, ridiculously implausible in just about every imaginable way from beginning to end. It was SO Spielberg. When he wants to go for a cheap emotional moment or to advance a plot point, he doesn't let logic or probability or character consistency stand in his way. So a character can't understand English one minute but can speak it using current idioms the next? Not an issue for him -- otherwise the schmaltzy plot would't work. The head of homeland security for the most major airport in the US can't produce a translator for a common East European language for several days? (Well, okay, given Homeland Security's performance in *real* life, maybe that's not so hard to believe.) We just have to accept that, because otherwise the one-dimensional characters wouldn't have to do what they need to do to advance the schmaltzy plot. *Repeated* unlikely convergences of central characters in the world's busiest airport? Well, whatever needs to happen... Blech, blech, blech.
