Michael and Kiefer gave rather convincing performances but nearly everyone else, from Basinger on down, seemed plastic and phoney to me.

Too many of the characters looked like actors saying their lines, taking me out of the story. The music was silly and overdramatic.

I don't know why a desperate housewife had to be in the movie other than to have something interesting for guys to look at.

Good idea for a film, but someone else could have done it better.

I like the actors here---Jennifer Aniston, Catherine Keener, and the great Joan Cusack----but just not in this movie.

Didn't enjoy my time spent with those characters. Walked out.

Sporadically funny, but overall disappointing. I'm really having a bad run on movies. I mean come on Saw II was the best movie I've seen lately??

My kids fell in love with this movie. Hans Conried was great in it. It's rated G & it's basically Dr. Seuss on acid.

But there was plenty of narration when the bereaved penguin lost its egg, or its chick. Hmmmm.

I hadn't seen this in years, but got it in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart for $7.50. It's a perfect blend of fantasy, adventure, comedy, and romance, and the music is just too gorgeous that it makes me wanna cry. And it even comes with several bonus features, including a great making-of documentary and 2 commentaries...How in the world this winds up in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart I dunno, but I do like that fer less'n 10 bucks I got one of the best movies ever out there.

I already can't wait to watch it twice again, once with each commentary.

    It's a really good movie! Kind of a comedy-drama, I suppose.

3rd viewing in 4 days, lol. 1st was the movie, 2nd was the writer's commentary, and this was the director's commentary. I swear I could watch this film 10 times in a row and still be hungry for more---so glad I bought it!

Good flick! Oe thing I found funny, though - the group behind me was apparently a group of frieds from a church, including their minister... at the end of the movie he said it was "pretty good for a work of fiction" - I just think it's weird that folks who are deeply feel the eed to point out that this NOVEL (the book) is fiction - it's a novel, y'all! Come on! It's a highly entertaining story!

    One and half thumbs up.

Love, love, love! this movie. I saw it in the theater, and I'm glad I can own it. To all the movie critics who said that the performances were too over the top, I ask if they saw the original film. Zero's performance was hardly under the radar, lol.

    Today:
    The Family Stone
    own it on DVD

It was okay. A lot more serious than I expected, but it was pretty good.

    Nanny McPhee
    own on DVD

Wonderful! It was much better than I expected, and it was just lovely. It made me cry at the end, lol, even though I could see what was coming.

I was expecting cheese. I had heard the original was cheesy (haven't seen it) and I read that some of the dialogue in this one was pretty over the top but gosh darn it if it didn't suck me into the story. I even teared up at a couple of points in the movie. Also, Josh Lucas is very good to look at for 99 minutes, I must say. So I enjoyed it.

My sister called me last night and said she was taking the ankle-biters to see this and did I want to come? I didn't think I would like it that much but said yes anyway, if only because the movie features the music of Ben Folds. Well, I really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot. I even laughed at the body noise humor, which usually I do not appreciate. Loved it!
