But the ending to me... well, it was way disappointing. I wanted more explanation. I watched the "making of" feature on the DVD. Yuch. Made me remember why I don't like "making of" or commentary features. Too precious, too self-conscious, too edited. I'd rather just remember the movie as it was.

A MAJOR disappointment to me. Blech! Too much gross-out; a rambling, hard to follow plot; and Jack became too cartoony. On the other hand, it was great to spend time with favorite characters, and there were definitely fun scenes. Overall, not at all as wonderful as the incredible first. And it bugs me that they're using this one as box-office insurance for the third.

I was babysitting a 10-year-old for the weekend. She wanted to go to the movies. I hoped she'd choose "Pirates," so that I could see it again on someone else's dime and perhaps like it better. She insisted on "Nacho Libre," though. *Sigh* Okay. I knew NOTHING about it. She assured me it was funny. So we picked up a friend of hers and off we went. Well, it wasn't that funny, although I laughed hard in a few places. It was actually pretty sad in spots. But it was really sweet, and I ended up liking it for that. This was my first Jack Black experience; I liked him. Idiosycratic factor: I appreciated the fact that another one of the main (and sympathetic) characters was not stereotypically attractive. Definitely worth a rental.

I'd seen previews for it months ahead of time. They did NOTHING for me. But Lindz wanted to see it. So we went. And it made me cry. Not that it's a sad movie, exactly. Highly recommended!

The drifting was cool, but the rest didn't thrill me much. Not bad,but not great. I did like the little appearance of Vin Diesel at the end, but they should have shown the race! Superman Returns Bangor Maine theater again Diet Coke Could they have cast Lois Lane any worse then they did??? Ughhhh. What a said portrayal of Lois. Brandon does resemble Christopher Reeves some. He didn't do too bad I guess but Tom Welling would have been much nicer if you ask me. Not real crazy about this Superman overall, but it had it's decent moments I guess. Hide and Seek Netflix don't remember if I snacked I like Dakota Fanning. I think it was a pretty good movie. I didn't figure it out until well into the story, so that was good. The Exorcism of Emily Rose Netflix no snacks OK, this was a freaky one. I liked that it was more like an old school horror movie in that it didn't rely on blood and guts and "made you jump" moments. Scary. Waist Deep Local theater water & popcorn Ended up seeing this when our theater DIDN'T get POTC. It was entertaining I suppose. The boys picked it because The Game was in it. ATL son's DVD dinner - steak, shrimp, mashed potatoes I liked it. It was a little hard to picture T.I. as a high school senior....but the story itself was good and T.I. can act well enough. OK......our theater STILL does not have POTC!!! I am dying here! The movies changed today and it's STILL NOT HERE!

Solid story, not-too-scary for the youngsters, kids who act like genuine kids. Classic tween flick in the "Goonies" tradition. On the technical side... beautiful 3-D digital projection! MoCap is definitely improving. Cleaner capture, greater facial articulation, excellent camera work. And the house animation... wow!! I dearly love Pixar films, but sometimes, you just need a bit more realism in your fantasy. Know what I mean? 8^D

I laughed so hard I cried, and then just about coughed up a lung becuase I could NOT stop laughing at a couple of points! LOL Anyhow, good movie, I liked seeing Dante & Randal again, loved the cameos, adored Jay & Silent Bob, and am very happy with the conclustion of the film. Oh, and for those of you with kids, this TOTALLY deserves it's R rating, and me, myself, and I would guess it's about the closest thing to an NC-17 movie I have EVER seen. Definitely keep the kiddos home for this one - you don't want to have those chats yet. Or maybe ever! lol

I may have anew favortie Philip K. Dick movie. Yes, I think I may prefer this to Blade Runner, even! Also, neat that it's a Richard Linklater film, meaning this: it was cool to see cartoons of Austin stuff I recognize and frequently drive by - freaked out the first time I recognized something i9n the flick as being a real Austin locale, as it's a plce I drive by on my way to my Weight Watchers meetings every Saturday morning - man, that was trippy to see! lol And, second thing that was freaky cool - last cscene of the film, there's a character that shows up who only has one line but who (the SECOND I saw him onscreen) I knew was a dude I went to college with. Watching the credits, this was CONFIRMED! How cool is it that 13 years after the last time I saw this guy, I recognized him in a film? Anyhow, great film, very interesting that they filemd it in live action, and then animated it - never seen anything quite like this before, but I really liked it. Eric's not sure if he liked that style, but who cares? He's just a man! lol Oh, and great performances by all invovled, ESPECIALLY Robert Downey, Jr. My gosh, that man is a GENIUS - I honestly don't think I've ever seen him in a bad role. ****

Originally Posted By Labuda "Considering the flick was allegedly set in Anaheim, those of us in the OC weren't as delighted . . . . ." Well, I did find it odd that I saw nothing familiar in "Anaheim" and so much that was familiar to me here in Austin, BUT that happens a lot in movies - I've seen stuff set in LA where only scenery you see outside is stuff in Houston. And stuff set in various places in Texas, but what you see on screen isn't in TX at ALL. *****MINOR SCANNER DARKLY SPOILER BELOW***** I *totally* dug seeing the "Time to thaw Walt" drawing on the wall in Rob's house. lol
