Just a very disturbing film. I mean I kind of like it, but I shook my head several times during it.

Well... it was good but has positivly nothing on the first two movies in the series. Those two concentrated on scares and atmosphere and fun twists, where as 3 is basicly just a gore fest. It could have been good with another script pollish or two. Also the "twists" were a bit half hearted, also one of them is a BIG plot hole and can be directly contradicted by something said earlier in the film. But still it's a decent thrill ride for halloween...

Another fab Errol Flynn pirate flick. The kids loved it. Great over-the-top costumes. Lots of beefcake poses with Errol's shirt falling half off.

    "Own" the DVD

I went to Best Buy Saturday night after work with a gift card I need to use up to pick up "The Facts of Life" Season 3 and "Sesame Street: Old School (1969-1974)" (which they didn't have so I got "Friends" season 4 instead), and they had several Halloween movies on sale. So I decided on Trial & Error to pick up this intriguing film called "The Evil Dead".

I want my money back. It's so hokey, campy, tries-to-be-disgusting(whichIdon'tlikeanyway)-but-is-too-over-the-top, has bad acting, no interesting or intelligent plot...just *awful*. I've never taken back a DVD to exchange after I've opened it, but I'm gonna see if I can get rid of this one for a much-better choice.

    House of Usher
    TCM Halloween Night
    No repast

The 1st of 3 Vincent Price scary movies I watched in a haunted tavern out of town where I was the lone guest overnight. This was a really good film with wonderful atmosphere, interesting plot devices, and a house you don't wanna mess with. Makes "Evil Dead" look like a bad junior high project (which frankly it looks like anyway...)

    The Abominable Dr. Phibes
    TCM Halloween Night
    No repast

This is a fascinating plot, IMO. Vincent Price plays a doctor who is out for revenge on the team of doctors who did not save his wife. He is out to kill them one by one, and does so by utilizing the famed 10 Hebrew plagues from The Bible*. Price is *quite* creepy in this, and his executions are varied and interesting. A marvelous film.

    * (here are the plagues if you're curious:..........bats, boils, frogs, blood, hail, rats, beasts, locusts, death of first-born, and darkness)

    Diary of a Madman
    TCM Halloween Night
    Chess Pie (late night snack)

Another Price gem. This has an interesting plot and also wonderfully atmospheric settings and moods. The special effects of the supernatural are done really well, and there is one scene in particular where Price sends shivers up your spine.

All 3 Price ones highly recommended!

Some fellow customer at Best Buy said the 2nd one is better too, but I'll just take y'all's words for it. I'll have to toss in this one with Vertigo as "movies that have wasted time I can't back".

I finally saw the first PotC movie a week ago on video, which meant I could now see the second one before it disappears from the theaters. Was it just me, or was it a small screen vs. darkened theater phenomenon, or was the second one just a lot grosser than the first?
