Where the Wild Things Are Water It was good, but not quite as good as I was expecting. I'm going to have to see it a second time to make a balanced decision because I was distracted by needing to hit the bathroom (I was trapped in the back row & had to wait till it was over), and there was a little kid that kept asking, "Daddy, why did he do that? Daddy, what's going on?" literally every five minutes, which was really annoying and distracting (I don't blame the kid, just the danged dad). It did hit me on an emotional level; I bawled for like the last 10 minutes of the movie. It just didn't completely bowl me over. Last night: MST3K: Laserblast Netflix Instant Sooooo funny. This is now one of my all-time favorite MST3K films.

BTW, in case you don't know what they are, Rifftrax are audio files you can synch up with your movie. They're done by the same guys who did Mystery Science Theater 3000, and they're just as awesome. They sometimes have special guests sit in, like when they had Weird Al for Jurassic Park and Neil Patrick Harris for Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

I mean, it's a chickflick for sure, but it also was really goofy. My husband, my brother AND my mom all sat here and laughed like crazy. There aren't very many movies where we can do that. My mom is easily offended and the rest of us are pretty dark so if one movie keeps us laughing, that's just really rare.

Hamlet is my favorite Shakespeare play, and seeing it from these two characters' prospectives was very interesting. Given the material, it was dark at times, but there was also a lot of comedy (and almost a Who's On First routine in one scene). Richard Dreyfuss was quite good as the Player, and both Tim Roth & Gary Oldman were excellent as R & G. If you enjoy dark comedy or Hamlet, give this one a shot.

I've never been a huge horror fan, but I'm starting to move in that direction, and I completely loved this movie. I started out thinking, "Oh, this isn't so scary!" but the last 45 minutes or so had me jumping a lot (and clinging to my cat, but let's not go there). I'm watching the rest of the series today, along with some other spooky movies, so I'll be back later.

I'll be seeing it again sometime soon with a friend who's a MASSIVE MJ fan. That should be even more fun than it was seeing it with a not-so-massive fan.
