We didn't really watch much of this. We were just curious what a movie about a convict escaping from jail and falling into the toxic sewer would be like. With a tag line like "Monsturd: Don't be Caught With Your Pants Down"...well, who could pass that up?

grabbed a matinee today...it was decent. Not great. Thought provoking and sad although it was billed as a comedy drama. It did have a few laughs though.

It was entertaining and lovely. But I don't think I'd want to by the DVD or Blue Ray. One viewing was enough, especially since I was vaguely nauseous for about a third of the thing.

Excessively long, dull, plodding and predictable. No sense of a story or character arc, and each of the subplots are mostly written with nothing more than set up and payoff and absolutely nothing in the middle. Riddled with unlikable characters in ridiculous situations and none of the MANY storylines have enough screentime to generate much interest or impact (highly touted star Julia Roberts has an entire 6 minutes of screen time)
Clearly modeled in the vein of last years successful He's Just Not That Into You, which was mostly criticized for its excessive storylines. Not to be outdone Valentines Day easily doubles the star power and characters to create one of the most ridiculous romcoms in recent memory. And by the way Taylor Swift better make room next to all of her grammys for next years Worst Supporting Actress at the Razzies. She shows more emotion in a blooper during the credits than she does the entire excruciatingly long film.

Really mixed emotions about this one. I had little interest into Dr Faliciter (the Shadowman) came on board. I enjoyed his scenes, Mama Ojai's and the ending.

I would put this more in the camp of 101 Dalmations or the Aristocats. It's fun, but it's not necessarily great. But I seem largely alone in this opinion.

The kids loved it. Sarah felt largely as I do. But it has a lovely story with some good morals.
