WOO HOO! Spinal Tap on a large screen makes me happy since I was only 11 (WOO HOO 11!) when it came out. HILAROUS! And I also dug that some little 18- & 19-year-olds next to me appeared to know it as well as I did.

After watching this I wondered what all the fuss was about. The effects were cool in a quaint sort of way but the story wasn't really anything that thrilled me. And truthfully it's a tad boring. C+ Tron Legacy(Joseph Kosinski)-Here's a film that's made for blu/ray. It looks and sounds great, but again it's the story. I just couldn't get wrapped up or care what happens to Kevin Flynn and such. C+ The Fighter(David O Russell)-A fantastic film about boxer Mickey Ward, his brother Dicky Eklund played by Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale respectively. Bale deserved his Oscar as did Melissa Leo as their mother. And the sisters are some of the best characters in a movie in the last ten years. A Jesus Christ Superstar(Norman Jewison)- A film that's an Easter tradition for me. One of my favorite musicals of all time. A The King's Speech(Tom Hooper)-Oscar got this one right and wrong. Colin Firth was fantastic in the film. However I don't thing it deserved the best picture or director wins it received. Still it's a very entertaining well made put together picture. A- Black Swan(Darren Arronofsky)-Again a movie where the lead performance was well worth the accolades it received. Portman is great in the film And the ballet is out of this world. The problem is the preceding hour left me cold. Not a great film by any means but see it for Portman. B- Star Trek(JJ Abrams)-I hadn't seen it in a while but it still holds up well, especially for a Star Wars guy like me. A- The Wild One(Can't remember the director)-Marlon Brando leads a biker gang into a small town where they reek havoc 1950's movie code style. Meaning it's all pretty innocent. Brando is decent and so is the movie. B- I also want to make mention of the FX show Justified which this Wednesday will be wrapping up its second season. Timothy Olyphant stars as Raylan Givens a US Marshall who moved back to his home county of Harlan in Kentucky. It's a funny well acted well written show that deserves your time when it's released on dvd. The season isn't complete but for now I give it an A.

Not paying makes a movie better. hehe Anyhow, this is an IFC production starring Rainn Wilson (Dwight on The Office), Ellen Page, and Liv Tyler. LOADS of other familiar faces appear in it, including a cameo from a star of my favorite Discovery Channel show! Basically, Rainn Wilson is left by his wife (Liv), and decides to become a Super Hero, then get her back whether she wants to come back or not! All in all, I LOVED this movie, but I will tell you this: do not see it unless you're ok with violence in film. There are a couple of things in this movie that make it among the most violently graphic I've ever seen, yet I laughed do hard at this movie that I had an asthma attack. And the ending is absolutely uplifting and leaves you with a good feeling despite all that you saw a short while earlier. Great job to everyone involved in making it, but do yourself a favor and don't let little ones see it.
