It balanced out the silly and serious moments. Chris Hemsworth is going to be a star. It had the right amount of charisma, brawn and talent for the role. Natalie Portman was just okay in the film, but I give her a pass just because she's so dang cute. And Tom Hiddleston as Loki was one of the best comic book villains I've seen. I wasn't too excited about this but now I can't wait for the Avengers next summer. Hopefully Captain America comes through also. A-

Little Fockers(Paul Weitz)-Here's a franchise that should have never become a franchise. Completely unfunny, uninspired and lazy. I swear both Stiller and DeNiro most have told the director to have their lines on LARGE CUE CARDS. I couldn't even make it through this film. F

And Robert DeNiro, what happened to you? You used to be an exciting actor. You used to be an actor people looked up to. Now you're just slumming it in garbage like this. Get back with Scoresese. Work with Christopher Nolan. A David Fincher and do some real work.

Pirates of Caribbean: On Stranger Tides(Rob Marshall)-Not the abomination critics make it out to be. But after this one I'd be okay if they stopped making Pirates films. Depp and Rush are entertaining as always. Penelope Cruz was decent enough. Ian McShane was a little bit of a let down as Blackbeard. The film was just decent, but I'm having trouble remembering much about. I'll give it a B-

Didn't think I'd like this but there was a lot of action and I enjoyed it.

Ok, so I'd seen that this is getting a low score on Rotten Tomatoes (36% when I checked on Saturday), so I lowered my expectations. And that means I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. I do think they'll need to stop making them after the next one, maybe, BUT, in the meantime, bring on more Johnny Depp and more hot young preacher dude! :)

Enjoyable enough, I would have preferred to see Thor or Bridesmaids.

I haven't been truly pleased with an adaptation since the 2nd movie but it was good enough.

So, I was at my buddy Al's house last night, meaning we had to find a movie he was interested in that I had not yet seen. It came down to this or Salt, and he decided to do this. I dug the action, BUT I will say this: remember how frickin' predictable the plot was in Avatar? Same here...same thing here. I give it a 6/10. Was nice to see Matt Dillon, and tons of actors I recognized, but...Chris Brown?!?! Really? A woman beater? Ugh.

'Extract'- It was okay. Entertaining enough. I HATED Ben Affleck's long hair. I much prefer his normal rug any day. Had a few funny lines; plus, we always appreciate ball jokes.

Seems like I've seen more movies lately since the Stanley cup playoffs are over and there isn't a game on every night. I might even reclaim my social life.

Love this, it is brill. Best animated film I have seen since Kung Fu Panda or Wall E me thinks. Not in the art department, but for enjoyability (sorry, I did not like Toy Story 3 and Tangled was a little too girly for my tastes).

Two great movies! And, does your vt and cable box not have a setting to power on at the same channel every time? Mine comes on to ESPN HD every time. It's pretty sweet. :)

Many years ago I read the book that "suggested" the storyline. (Yes,it's a real book and I will never read it again because it creeped me out so badly. It was that scary with the zombies and mermaids and Blackbeard was very fearsome). So, I had some preconceived notions going into this, but started hearing reviews when it was first released that tempered what I anticipated.

I thought it a good romp, more along the lines of "Curse of the Black Pearl", though Jack's entrance was much more functional, pity.

There was a nod to the attraction as well as (I thought) to one of Johnny Depp's other movies of a more serious and adult nature. Let's see who can guess what I thought the carriage scene somewhat reminded me of.

Speaking of the carriage scene, did anyone else recognize Dame Judi Dench? It took her one line for me to get it, but it was her!

We'll probably add it to our dvd/blu-ray collection when it's released. We have all the others.

Hm, I have no idea...I think I'd want mine to come on to a nature program or something quiet. I'm high-strung. LOL

Wow... first time I've ever seen Stan Lee NOT show up in a cameo in a Marvel flick as far as I can recall... weird!

Anyhow, this film is visually stunning! Really enjoyed it, and one thing totally weirded me out: The dude playing Megneto looks a LOT like Jon Hamm at times. HAWT!

TS and TS2 are funny and have some happy endings. TS3 had none of that and left me feeling down for a few days after it. It was well made but it was not fun.
