We both liked this. A LOT. And so did all the other folks who were in the theater when we saw it on opening weekend. Matt would like it pointed out that it has a scene in it reminiscent of Blazing Saddles.

    The Twelve Chairs
    Blu-Ray
    water and soup

Loved it! This is the first disc of a Mel Brooks collection I got and, yep, it was funny. I kept tripping out over Frank Langella in it, though... and then showed Matt after the movie what I'm used to him looking like, and now he gets why I kept freaking out about him being a handsome young man! hehe

    Blazing Saddles
    Blu-Ray
    water and Coke

    Still hilarious. :)

Still on.. yeah, I know it's supposed to be a great flick, and I think it's good, but I still am doing other stuff since I'm semi seeing this against my own wishes. Matt's just wanted me to watch it forever and I finally gave in. It's good, just not my thing. And here's a scene happening now that's reminiscent of The Great Movie Ride. :) Oh, but it was cool that Bilbo was in it. :D

I had no desire to see this movie, but got roped into it and I actually really liked it. I will definitely see the next one, even though I haven't read the books and it's doubtful that I will.

Liked the movie, but it left so much out that was in the book.

Read the book to find out what was really going on during some of those scenes...

I was just finishing up the book but I liked the movie quite a bit. Rooney Mara was awesome. It's a little long but it's still good.

I'm sure your significant other is aware of Prometheus directed by Ridley Scott. They say it's not a prequel to Alien but I don't know

I think Heigl did an ok job as Stephanie, but her accent was way off for a Jersey girl. Morelli, Ranger, Grandma, Lula, the casting & performances were way off. There were a few LOL moments, but I think if they kept it true to the books, it'd have to be rated R, so they toned it down & it lost it's edge to me. Disappointing & I see no reason why they completely changed the ending. The movie was only 80 minutes, no reason they couldn't have added to make it end the same.

I sat next to my dd during the movie and asked her questions when I didn't understand something. True, the movie had a VERY disturbing plot, but so did books such as 1984 and Lord of the Flys. The most disturbing thing about this series is the fact that these "hunger games" continue to happen, and the elite class does not see a problem with it. They seem to view the lower classes as animals almost. It's really quite a deep, politically charged story.

I'm a loyal Adam Sandler fan (I forgive him for making Eight Crazy Nights) so this was right up my alley. Laughed out loud several times.

My girlfriend read the books and loved them, but even she didn't like it. It was too long, too boring, even John Carter was better, but at least the film was more interesting than the Twilight series. Unfortunately this was the weakest movie we have seen so far this year.

In short, the movie is set in the same fictional universe of Ridley Scott's Alien and has shared events with it, but it's not very related to the rest of the original franchise, and it's definitively not related to Aliens vs Predator. There had been talks of a fifth Alien movie for years, with alternating contributions from James Cameron and Ridley Scott. In fact, Scott had committed to an Alien sequel or prequel about ten years ago but aborted the project when the studio opted to make the AvP movies first, and both Cameron and Scott, separately, were no supporters of the Alien/Predator crossover franchise. After the disappointing box office from Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, the studio shelved the AvP franchise again to go back to the original plan. The prequel film was supposed to cover the origins of the Weyland-Yutani Company.

When the project was initially greenlit, it was seen as two separate movies to be chronologically before the first Alien movie, written by Jon Spaihts, being directed by Carl Erik Rinsc, and Scott staying only as producer. However, Fox wanted Scott in the director's chair so bad that he eventually accepted under the condition that the script was heavily retooled to reflect the concepts that he wanted to explore. Damon Lindelof was the pen to make it happen, and the result has been described in certain moments as a both a prequel and an original story. For instance, in an interview, Michael Fassbender confirmed that this is actually an Alien movie, taking place in the Alien universe. In July 2011, however, Scott stated in another interview that "by the end of the third act you start to realize there's a DNA of the very first Alien, but none of the subsequent [films]".

Exactly how is not yet clear but, from the known information, the story takes place within the same universe albeit not directly connected to the events of the original. There may of be some misdirection on part of the film makers to help heighten interest in the film. Production photos of the film confirm that the movie has links to Alien and seem very much inspired by, if not designed and built by, H.R. Giger. Source. The most recent trailer for Prometheus shows footage of space vessels not unlike the Nostromo, alien spacecraft shaped like the Derelict Ship and "Space Jockey" creatures from the first Alien film, confirming that the film does, indeed, take place in the same fictional universe as the previous Alien films, and will focus more on the Space Jockey race.

Anyhow, later today we're seeing The Hunger Games.
