I didn't like the character depictions. About the only people I found intresting in the entire film was the missionary and the mermaid. There was NO chemistry between the female lead and Jack Sparrow. Black Beard was grossly mischaracterized in this film. For one thing he died in 1718 in North Carolina. And King George II, wasn't even king until 1727. So much for character fact checking. Black Beard was born in Bristol, England and spent most of his time when a privateer and pirate in North/ South Carolinas as well as the West Indies. Then what is he doing with a spanish daughter? Many people in the southeastern portion of the USA are fond of Black Beard and his pirate exploits. This movie totally offers those Black Beard "fans" nothing with it's total distortion of him and complete recreation of an infamous and well documented individual.
