It is a beautifully made film and it gives my 8 year old red-headed niece someone to look up to, instead of that hussy Ariel.

As did Matt, who's big into the Alien franchise, whereas I am not and just enjoyed the heck out of this movie for what it was without linking it to anything else other than at the end. Thor water or Coke home I made my nephew watch this before I'd take him to see The Avengers. He liked it, but being 13 did the obligatory gross out reaction when he thought Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth were about to make out. LOL He'd already seen all the other movies leading up to The Avengers, so this was his only required watching before I took him. Avengers Regal Cinema frozen Coke and popcorn that the nephew BARELY touched! Money drain!!! I still enjoyed it, and Frankie LOVED it. I was especially happy at one point when he leaned over and whispered to me that he understood why I made him watch Thor first. WOO HOO! Kick Ass home with Matt & Frankie some sort of dinner - I think I made Philly Cheesesteaks that night I wasn't too thrilled with the guys choosing this since there's a good deal of cussing, but Frankie did enjoy the heck out of it. It sure did beat the heck out of what I chose, though, having forgotten just how dirty it is. Next up was: Team America: World Police home with Matt & Frankie dinner - I think this night was spaghetti Ok, wow. In my defense, I'd only seen it once, and it's puppets. OTOH, thank GOD he's 13 and had heard all that language before. He did really enjoy it, though. And, turns out when I introduced him to Monty Python on this trip, it was an awesome move - he LOVES it. And when we told Grandma (my Mom) at lunch the day Frankie went back to San Antonio that he had seen his first bits of Monty Python, she responded by singing a bit of the Lumberjack Song and then telling us she wished she'd have gotten to see Spamalot when she was in England for her birthday trip a couple of years ago. This got Grandma some bonus cool Grandma points with Frankie, I think. Not sure if I already posted this one, but: Men in Black III Regal Cinema water We both loved it. Madagascar 3 Regal Cinema frozen Coke I saw this alone since it's not on Matt's must-see-on-the-big-screen list. I liked it a lot, but I'm pretty much guaranteed to love good animation. Brave Regal Cinema free popcorn and also my standard (esp on 104 degree days like today) Frozen Coke I absolutely ADORED this, and once again was just AMAZED with the quality of Pixar animation. The trees, the grass, and then ESPECIALLY the fish in the river - just WOW. And, I noticed that unlike during Madagascar when kids intermittently piped up, none of them really did other than to laugh during Brave. I was impressed by that, especially based on how loud the theater was before this 2:30 pm matinee started. Oh, and Finding Nemo is coming back to theatres this December. YAYCAKES! Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Regal Cinema frozen Cokes My vote last Friday was for Brave, but Matt said he'd rather see this. I was wary since I noticed it wasn't showing reviews prior to opening on Rotten Tomatoes, and that usually means something's going to be bad. So, after we finished the movie (where we were not the only ones laughing at parts that likely weren't supposed to be funny), we both expressed dismay that Tim Burton was involved (he's one of the producers), AND agreed on when the movie lost us: when Abe CAUGHT a horse that was thrown at him by a vampire AND THEN STARTED RIDING IT once it was back on its feet. That topped off a ridiculous scene that had Abe running across the backs of horses just like the vampire was doing. One high point, tough: Wash from Serenity was in it. I need to read this book to try to get the bad movie out of my brain. Matt said Battlefield: Earth (notorious flop that I've never seen) was better in his opinion. It was just BAD. Not a good movie. Save your money, even if you loved the book. Oh, and reviews are pretty much bad as I'd guessed. Ok, I think that's it other than the fact that we re-watched Attack the Block again recently. GREAT flick! It makes me wonder if the Neighborhood Watch people saw it and decided to Americanize it and make it a comedy. *shrug*

Just gotta make sure he uses my Amazon Prime account to finish up the series - he made it about three episodes into the second season while he was here.

Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides I know I'm in the minority, but I really like that movie. For me it's the second best of the series after The Curse od the Black Pearl.

Once I saw the skinniest person waiting in long line only to buy a bottle of water. That amazed me ... really that's all you wanted ...but it must be the secret to staying thin. I now know the secret but does not mean I practice it! Anyway I loved this movie and am embarrassed to admit I have never seen it except for the clips standing in line at the Great Movie Ride at DisneyWorld!
