Armie Hammer is very handsome and I think Johnny Depp is good in everything he is in. He was good as Tonto. Action scences were really good. Funny too.

Hugh Jackman did a very good job as Jean Valjean. Samantha Banks as Eponine was very, very good. Some of the 'set pieces' were quite excellent. The opening number of them pulling a sailing ship into the dock was really neat. The scenes of Paris looked sort of quasi-realistic, which I liked. On the other hand Anne Hathaway was very selfish in her role -- Oscar worthy? Eh. Russell Crowe was not very good as he can't really sing, and this is, afterall, a musical. Amanda Seyfried, while beautiful, has a strange voice which I found distracting. And the Thenardiers -- Sasha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter -- horrible and out of place. Their scene should have been renamed "Master of the Gross.' blecch. Overall, I give it about 6.5 or in French -- Le Six point five.

Which means I'll maybe try to get him to watch Shaun of the Dead today before we go to the movie since I know after we get home, he'll be on the PS3.

On a side note, I didn't consciously do this, but I DID wear a Texans for Obama shirt to the movie - which, of course, had Jamie Foxx playing a black President.
