I agree 100%. For better or worse, they should let Palin be Palin. They have taken away the energy and freshness she showed at the convention and left us with a poorly coached Stepford wife.

I think that'd be for worse.

What they need to do is hide her again. Seriously. Take whatever heat they need to, but just keep her (for gods sake) out of earshot of any microphones!

Just the smiling waving visual and the never changing stump speech.

That's it. If I were campaign director, she'd be going right back into the sequester house after Thursday night (and I would also be exploring any and all avenues for getting the Thursday thing canceled).

Of course I hope personally they DON'T do that. This is far more amusing.

But if I were running the campaign..that'd be the ticket.

I would be fine with that. Personally, I think Palin is a helluva lot brighter than has been shown after the convention. But it sure would be nice to know for sure by giving her an honest chance to do her thing. If you are right and she really appears dead in the water without the coaching; I'm not above admitting a mistake and changing my vote.

    I don't.

Have you watched what little video there is of her prior? She didn't have much to say back then either (I will grant you that she is VERY up on "Alaska" issues, no question there. family values issues as well.).

They need to hide her again.

    Why would you care?

You've already gone on record stating that McCain dying "ain't gonna happen" and even if it did she'd just surround herself with heavyweights and have no problem.

So, why would ANYTHING she says or does affect your vote?

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for me. I cast my ballot this week already. So, I'll just have to let someone else make up for my mistakes if I ever need to admit them.

Because right now I believe that she is bright enough that even if she had to take over (which I truly doubt) she could handle the job. I think she is smart enough to realize the limitations of her experience and would find a really experienced Vice President to do the heavy lifting (more or less what Obama did)

If I thought she was so stupid that she would just want to bulldog ahead doing it all her way then I would be worried.

But increasingly, people are seeing this whole stunt for what it is. And more and more people are waking up to the fact that she simply isn't presidential material.

Maybe if we weren't at war, if the economy was steady and flourishing, then people would be more willing to suspend their misgivings and say, "Aw, what the heck". But there's just too much at stake right now for this kind of empty stunt casting.

What part of "you can't blink", and "I'm ready, willing and able" did you miss?

I have yet to hear a single humble word come out of her mouth, something along the lines of "this is a tremendous task being asked of me, and I will work day and night to make sure I'm up to it", or something along those lines.

Heck, even if she'd said "well, ANYONE would have to sit back and really think about this kind of a challange, I'm no different", but no. All we get is "YES, I can do it. No problem".

Goes back to the whole "Jesus chose me for this" mentality I do believe.

And I think she WOULD wreak havoc if she had the chance. Blindly and overconfidently. She thinks it's her destiny, or something.

Just look at the snarky way she is MOCKING everyone (but McCain, of course)

Mock the opponents, mock the media, mock the other world leaders. She really thinks she's above and beyond.

Psychotically confident, I think someone said. I fully agree.

    LOL!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the VP debates probably wont change X's mind much ;D.

I have to agree with him though, yes, if she wasnt pumped up on talking points and coaching like steriods, she would probably be a little more at ease, natural and charming like before. I mean when she gives her speeches, she still gives off that vibe.

The problem is she is still dumb as a rock when it comes to national and world issues, period. They know this and so they are trying to make up for it, but its killing her charisma and laid back attitude at the same time. I was watching Keith Olbermann and a commentator came on, forgot who he was, but has knowledge of this stuff, says that when Palin came on board, she was given a 600 PAGE bible of who McCain was, his political history, his voting record, views on hot topic issues (such as Pakistan ;)) and etc. She was expected to learn all of these things WHILE she was out campaigning and travelling the country and I imagine a document like that isnt the most exciting read ;).

So the fact this woman has to memorize all these things in a matter of WEEKS, especially if you are green to a lot of this stuff, when something like that should be digested and eased as you go through the process is a little insane. But again, it doesnt help when you select someone who doesnt know about these issues clearly enough on her own. I doubt Biden was given a 600 page document on Obama (although to be fair, it would probably be closer to 60 pages lol).

So yeah, what can they do?? She either 'be herself' talk about abortion, Anwar and the power of her church and throwing out a few 'Mavericks' here and there (and is it me, but when you start saying it 50 times a day, it sort of loses its punch ;)) but have NO clue to his positions and what they mean on a national stage and national issues in general or give her some info and hope she understands it all in a short time. Admittedly it's a lose-lose situation.

Also, I was just thinking about this, but this reminds me of an old 'Married with Children' episode. I cant remember all of it exactly, but there was an episode where Kelly Bundie (the young hot, but dumb as bricks sister ;)) had to pass some big test or she was going to fail and Bud Bundy helped her study all night for it and found a way for all the facts in her head to stick.

The outcome was that everything she learn DID stick, but she had information overload and they would all come out in rambled ways and it was all jumbled up. She would start saying one fact and then completely jump to something different while still trying to make the same original point (how I remembered this, I have no clue ;)). It was pretty funny though.

Watch that CBS interview again.....that's Palin lol!

I often wonder what would motivate someone to say "yes" to such an offer, other than an unquenchable thirst for power. I know that I would never accept such an offer. I can't imagine living under a microscope like these people do.

I actually played a round of golf in a foursome with Dan Quayle back when Ronald McDonald charities ran the celebrity golf tournaments - he was far from a dumb guy...

    rotfl!!

The episode was called "Kelly's Brain", I think...

One fact in, another one goes out. :p

I think if they cram one more fact into Palin's brain she'll probably explode.

    Well remember fkurcz,

If you recall, there was an infamous video of her (and I'm sure Mr. X will throw the video up when he reads it lol) that she said didnt even KNOW what the VP does!! Im not slamming her for it, hell, I barely know lol, my point is, I think she thought most of it would be just ceremonial, back up whatever the President say and not get in the way too much. I dont think she comprehended the onslaught of attention she would get---although their arent too many women VPs around, but whatever. And who knows, maybe when they get in, thats all it will be for the most part. Other than her responsibilites in the Senate, it seems like the President can set as much or as little responsibility he expects from them on the job. She could be no more than a nice walking puppet in the end.

But what I cant understand is she sees that even though she's 'just' the VP, she mustve had a clue they still have to know their stuff on all things Presidential, right? They still travel the world, help form policy and give interviews like the President does, its just in the end, the Presidents word is final (unless you are Cheney ;)).

I mean, she MUST have known that we still want a VP that knows whats going on and JUST on top of things just like the Presidnet would be, even if they dont act on them all of them.

But hell, who knows at this point? Maybe she just saw the old man might croak in the middle of the first term and grab the power and would by then know enough to lead.

Its a whooole new ball game when you are in Alaska and the only people that covers your campaign is Moose Weekly (I know thats wrong, but since someone wrote that, I cant laughing!!!!!).

But now she's in the big leagues when she stop to ask a 'gotcha' question from a 19 year old college kid at a pizza place, she better know what the hell she is saying because the entire world is listening ;).
