And no, I don't think you post too many facts at all, but then again you don't really need to on LAUGHINGPLACE...a Disney webpage. >>I didn't disagree with it; it's irrelevant to what is happening now.<< It's completely relevant. Your argument was that N.O. is corrupt thanks to those awful liberals. The counter argument was that N.O. has always been corrupt, even with YOUR guys in power. But by all means, stay on message.
Originally Posted By DouglasDubh <You never seem to post anywhere on here but WorldEvents, and I've got to wonder why a guy like yourself bothers to come to LAUGHINGPLACE to do it.> I'm going to ignore the undercurrent of venom in your post, and answer your question honestly. I used to post more on the DCA, future expansion page, but I got tired of being called a Disney apologist when I disagreed that DCA was the WORST PARK EVER! I live 850 miles from Anaheim, and even farther from Florida, and I don't have any inside knowledge, so I can't contribute to the rumours pages. I used to offer my opinion on rumours or new attractions more in the past, but I hardly offer any special insight there. But I still read the threads, and I occasionally post on them, or the trip planning threads and the like. I post on WE mainly because I offer a different viewpoint than most here, however much I'm maligned for it. When I see people or institutions getting trashed for what I believe are unjust reasons, I'm compelled to point out there maybe a different way of looking at things, and there may be some facts that the critics are ignoring or overlooking. Now, about New Orleans. My argument was not that it "is corrupt thanks to those awful liberals", but that because it is corrupt, it tends to elect liberals. Liberals have been in charge down there far, far, longer than conservatives, and I don't see where the situation has improved. That conservatives occasionally got into office, and failed to fix everything at once, doesn't deter from my main point. <But by all means, stay on message.> I'm sure you will.

Walt Disney Studios Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland suck MUCH more. *I* "stay on message"? Hardly. In fact, many times I've been known to actually listen and appreciate counter-arguments to the point where I change my views mid-thread. And I'm okay with that. Tunnel vision is a poor way to go through life in my opinion. Oh, and by the way my preferred candidate for President right now happens to Mike Huckabee, a REPUBLICAN. Though I really dislike Bush and most of what he's done to my beloved country, and firmly believe that Gore and Kerry would have been much better for America, I am not by any means a die-hard Democrat...I appreciate the contributions of many Republican leaders past and present, just not the current guy. And I don't like the "holier than you" message the Republicans and their bible belt fanbase spew all the time, it just rubs me the wrong way. But please, by all means, think whatever you like about me. You're views are frankly nothing but a joke to me anyway...I believe I could easily write your posts for you, almost word for word at this point. So, keep stayin on message buddy.

However, I pointed out that New Orleans has been corrupt from its inception, and remained so no matter who was in power. The corruption of New Orleans transcends petty partisan politics - it seems a permanent part of the fabric of that city, dating back to the French. Mr. X understood this instantly. <And it's the rest of the post, where you lied about my opinions, that I objected to. > I "lied" about nothing. I asked you to point out an example; you couldn't. Quel suprise, as the French say. And, Mr. X, a lot of people assume my name's Bob, but actually it's Dave (Dabob is an acronym).

Those individuals had the Freedom to remain in the city if they so choose, but buy the same token they take on the responcibility of experiencing the consequences as well. And they certainly got to experience the consequences. My outrage is not with the poor pitiful people of New Orleans as much as it is with the prevailing theme among the Democratic Party and our national media in placing the blame squarely on our President or FEMA. <<They are the people who now depend on the Hispanic immigrants to help rebuild their homes and businesses.>> You must mean the illegal Mexican trespassers. <<Do those who victimize the good people of New Orleans deserver any sympathy? No they do not. No matter what type of circumstances they came from; nothing justifies violence and crime. Some people work for a living and then some people vote for a living. Just keep on handing out those entitlements.
