If not, don't be yet another example of the knuckleheads on the right. (And yes, I believe there are knuckleheads on the left too.)

Your approach is what's wrong with politics now. Here is an example... What can we do to save our country? What are some solutions? We obviously can't increase taxes to the level it would take to balance the budget. We can't keep writing checks that we can't pay. So bottom line, pterosaur than blame past administrations, what can be done now? Brow beating and fighting aren't going to cut it, not in here and not out there. In trying to "win" we are all going to lose. Honestly, I fear it's too late.

Oh we, the "have nots" were not considering any sort of fairness when it was about the effort; when it was about the future heart Specialist MD studying ALL NITE LONG for 10 YEARS so that he or she could operate on the arteries of some guy who chose to get a job at Home Depot, and watch Nascar on weekends during that same period of time.>> Actually, Kevin I would argue that your view of America is what's wrong with politics. Somehow you have been fooled into believing that the rich got where they are due to nothing but hard work. Apparently everyone can be rich if they just educate themselves and weren't so darn lazy. Of course, the evidence doesn't support your view. Let's talk about your assertion that it's sloth that holds the average Joe down. In fact, the productivity of American worker has increased over time and even recently as employers lay off workers and are reluctant to add new permement workers. Productivity of the American worker has steadily increased while their income has steadliy decreased. Some much for your work hard and you'll be rewarded theory. How about education? How's that working out for people? Defaults on student loans are at all time highs. Doesn't sound like a sure fire path to success to me. Clearly there is someting else involved besides hard work and education. In fact, a good bit of it is just luck and circumstance. Sure education and hard work help but thinking that education + hard work = rich; nonsense.

The problem isn't what we are collecting...the problem is what we are spending. And, if you can't touch entitlement programs then the rest is just trimming the bangs of Rapunzel. Having said that, I do believe the rich can afford to pay more (though I'd say 39% of one's income is still hefty no matter how rich you are) and I know we could close many of the plethora of the corporate loopholes. That would be a moral victory, really, but it would be something. And then they can start talking about the entitlement spending after they shut up the naysayers who keep pointing to the rich to solve all of the problems.
