I wouldn't waste your breath, Dave. I do wonder why an individual who came to this site just last week, immediately began taking shots at posters here (yes, myself included), then spouted vile racist comments against the owners of the site (which for some reason got my thread about the announcements at WDW tomorrow shut down) is still allowed to post in these parts.

I guess he has an impressive (known?) IP address.

I generally love to drive when I am at some place. I love driving around California, for instance, but only after I've flown out. I enjoy driving around Vermont and New England in general, AFTER I've flown to Boston.

I've always loved flying too (free First Class upgrades help). I still do, I just detest the whole sham security TSA crap we now go through (which btw is hurting tourism to the USA as I heard from some UKers and Aussies yesterday while watching the new Allure of the Seas leave Port Everglades, apparently all nations aren't so sheep-like when it comes to basic civil liberties).

    Anyway ...

Driving to a locale has never been fun. I detest the three hours it takes me to get to WDW for example, which is why I have flown from time to time.

oh avimagine- wait until you won't with an international team one day.
I have people in Brazil that get 7 weeks vacation to start -- 1st year ! also they get every local holiday off and don't get me started on world cup time.

in the US- the fact that people start with 1 - maybe 2 weeks if very lucky sucks.Average on my international team ( UK/Slovakia/Singapore/Brazil/Dublin/ France / Germany/Madrid is 6 weeks.

I've always wondered (and should probably google it but it's more fun to ask), how exactly does that Channel Tunnel work?

I mean, the cars drive on ONE side in France, the other in England, and the steering wheels are opposite too...

So, why doesn't everyone just crash into each other in the middle?

You drive your car on the train and at the other end, remember to reverse everything - drive on the right, go anti clockwise around the round about (rather than clockwise). It is a lot of fun (though my wife is terrorfied).

When you get to folkstone you drive up to the check in, where you use the compute that reads your licence plate, put in your credit card, choose the train, and it prints out your boarding card that you hang on the rear view mirror.

You can then park up at the terminal where there is a bar, restaurants, shops, toilets etc. You then wait for the train to be called, and then get in the car, drive past the electronic sniffer dogs and cameras; drive through passport control and customs (they can strip the car down), and then queue for the train.

The Train is a double decker, you drive to the train and are directed to drive up to the 2nd level or stay on the ground. You then drive all the way through the train (it feels like the launch sequence in Battlestar Gallactica if you ask me) until you get to the end or the car in front. You put the car in park (or first gear if manual, and apply the hand brake), and you roll the windows down half way.

You then sit in your car for the 35 minute journey, and then drive out the front side of the train through a one way system until you get on the autoroute (Freeway in the US, Motorway in the UK) at Calais.
