I rode it four years ago with my son and it scared the beejeebers out of me! The minute that thing shot up my eyes were closed. I may have peaked out of one eye for half a second and that was it! When I got off the CM was laughing at me. She said "Usually when people go up their legs are flying around. Not yours, yours were firmly locked under you." My son LOVED the ride and rode it single rider many, many times after that.

He and I also went in a swinging car on the Sun Wheel. While I wasn't all that crazy about the moving, my son was absolutely freaked out by that.

You just have to get over the shock of seeing it right in front of you ;) Try it again and keep your eyes open-you'll love it! Especially the nice easy trip back down :D

The last time (the final time) I was sitting between my kids. They would both yell "up, up, up" or "down, down, down" so I at least knew what direction I was going. I bought the picture (looks like I'm crying) just to prove I went on it. Never again!

Hmmm, that may be one way to get me back on TOT; if my kids can tell me which way we're going and when we're going to drop/shoot up, I may be able to actually catch my breath. I didn't realize how much my kids have that ride memorized until this morning we were listening to the soundtrack to TOT on the way to school and DS9 said, "you get shot up at that part.....". I don't know, I was shaking so badly after that ride I swore never again. It's just that now that DS3 is tall enough to go on, it'd be nice to ride as a family.

I was scared of a lot of the same things as you guys when I was a kid.

I did have a friend who cried at the thunderstorm in the Tiki Room, but I never had a problem with it.

    what did scare me were:

-The drops in POTC. Although, for some reason, I alternated years being scared and loving it. I have no idea why some rides I was fine and some I was not...

-The pop-up ghost in HM...I rode when they were louder and I always tried to look in the opposite direction...I knew they were coming, and I hated the sound of them.

-Monstro the Whale on Storybookland. Although I got over that fear by being picked as the hostess' sidekick. I was pretty shy, but she sure made me feel comfortable, and helped me through getting "eaten" by the whale.

-The characters! I hated any rubberhead I saw and would freak out and hide. My sister used this to her advantage all the time and always made sure the knew right where I was hiding...

-Space Mountain! I was very little when I went on this...maybe there wasn't a height requirement back then? Anyway, I was so terrified that it was in the dark that I let out a piercing scream through the whole ride, and also manage to slip out from under the restraint and cowered on the floor...it was not fun. Love the ride now though.

-Harold...and I never even had to see him! My sister so put the fear into me, that I refused to ride it until I was a teenager...then when I did I was upset that she made it MUCH scarier than it actually was. She told me that there was a monster so huge that it took up the whole inside of the mountain and he tried to eat you...

My brother told me the only one that is random (and side to side) is the TOT at WDW; which is why he preferred it. I just asked my boys and they insist it's the same every time......maybe their imagination???

and for some reason Monstro on Pinocchio was a much bigger deal to me then Storybook...wierd I know, I think Imust have had some sort of dream & that was the memory that stuck because I wouldn't go on that ride for years

YES! It was that bad, absolutely terrified me. I did Tower twice that same trip and while it still was a bit scary for me, I'd go again. Not so for Maliboomer. Nope, nope, nope.
