It was a gym for gosh sakes! What did you do for high school gym class? Run into the bathroom stall and change? If it makes you that uncomfortable, I suggest you quit that gym and go to one which caters to people who aren't 65 and overweight. >>Is it just me then??<< In a word.......yes.

Personally, I try not to walk around nude in the gym although it doesn't bother me if someone else does. I'm also more comfortable showering at home and don't always use the public showers. Especially at the end of the day when I feel like the germs have had time to flourish.

Embarressed. I was just talking to her and she was suddenly naked!.........

Sorry, I thought i was clear, but I know it depends how you read things. Right, well done a survey amongst my friends and they all agree too, none are at all comfortable with others stripping off around them. Or them stripping off around others, So there might be a lot of us a bit stinky walking around not daring to use the shower!!......lol

I somewhat envy being so comfortable, as I think Miss Candice stated, with your own body. But, I also think there is a difference in being comfortable with your body and good manners. If you are undressing and *sort of* trying to not be All Out There, that is understandable. But to be *nekid* and just stand there, well, don't think that is necessary. Thank you pennyring for the funniest thing I have read in a long time. I have just laughed so hard at Delswife ~ what a talent! Enjoyed the badshoe.com site from Post #16. Have to tune in more often, there. Also, can't wait until Trippy posts here. ºOº

Anyway, I just wanted to throw in here an experience I had the other week. I had been swimming and showered, and came out to change, the changing rooms were starting to get busy as it mid afternoon in the school holidays and they allow children in for a couple of hours. Anyway I head back to where my locker is located and there is a woman there with 2 boys changing, aged around 6 & 8 (there is a note on the door saying boys over 8 must use mens changing room) anyway, my dilemma is this, the individual cubicles were already taken, so I had to change out in the communal area, where this woman had her 2 boys changed ready to go and standing around watching people whilst she got ready. I am not a prude by any means, and have no problem with other women getting naked in the gym, I did however find it rather uncomfortable having to change in front of these 2 young boys? What does this mean about me?!

If she was in a "dilema" so to speak, she should have arranged a different way to get the boys changed and definitely NOT be looking around. She also should have kept them with her out of site; waiting for an individual cubicle. This was wrong for both the boys, her children, and the others there like you expecting privacy at least from younger boys. Oooo, not at all appropriate. Trippy is too laid back today.

Smedley, I agree it was a difficult situation, I arent sure what i would have done if I had been the Mum either, I wouldnt happily let my 9 year old change alone in the mens room for sure, although I wouldnt have had a choice really I guess. I think I would have put him in a cubicle then told him to wait for me outside. At a swimming party for one of my sons friends, the mums were all in the changing rooms helping them get ready, they were about 7, a couple of mums were going in the pool too. One mum just stripped off and didnt even try to rush to get changed. All the other mums were looking at each other with very raised eyebrows!

Your comparisons aren't accurate. It's like comparing going to the bathroom in a urinal to dancing naked in front of a bathroom mirror and someone walking in. For some reason it's just different.

Yet you mock the discomfort others may have by a woman exposing herself suddenly to breastfeed in the other post. "Move and stop your weenie whining," I believe was your quote. Whatever. I can't for the life of me understand why someone would be shocked to find people in various states of undress in a locker room/shower area. And the fact that the woman was 65 years old and overweight, well, good for her for going to a gym and trying to do something to improve her health and well-being. Give her a break.
