If I had to choose, and had never been to DL, Disneyland wins. the Expo seems ok, but to be honest, most of what Disney is doing right now is pretty poor, and you can read/watch videos about it soon after the event. It is cool, and I would like to go, but meeting celebs does not impress me much, and nor do hugely massaged presentations that remind me of work.

People traveled from across the world to attend the event. >>It is cool, and I would like to go, but meeting celebs does not impress me much,<< Please note I put the word "celebs" in quotes, for lack of a better term. The people I tend to enjoy encountering most are those who are pretty much unrecognizable to people on the street but are known names to Disney fans. I am talking about archivists, voice artists, Imagineers, writers... Is it like Comic-Con in that news will spread sooner or later through the 'net? Yes. At the same time, video isn't the same as meeting Lucky the dinosaur for yourself. How often do you get to see a 3D camera in action, live? Have you ever watched a movie and then wished you could have asked the filmmaker a question afterward? If the Expo were being held some place not near a Disney park, my answer might be different, but if the timing works and the funds are there to do both, do both. That has been my stance from my first post in this thread.

We had a blast! we stay in touch now and i even met up with them this past holiday season at disneyland! I know they are trying to come up with money for this years d23 expo but they are expecting a baby soon so that might stop the trip but I am so happy for them and their new family!!! Another highlight when I went was on the final day was the muppet meet and it was so much fun and we even got to meet fozzie, gonzo and pepe the prawn. and it was my birthday and they sang happy bday to me! I know i said earlier disneyland over d23 since its your first time but now that i think about the last expo and want to say if there is somehow to go to both do it! but i will say most of the smaller events i didn't get to go to because they filled up fast! so i got to spend alot of time on the floor were the vendors, and alot of other exhibits were. Also this year don't forget they have special vip seats for d23 members that bought special tickets so that might limit the capacity for the rest of us.
