With any luck, this will be me this weekend. I just purchased, and tomorrow will accept delivery of, a Camp Chef Woodwind pellet grill. Oh yes, I will be the Grill Master!
I really wish you lived a whole lot closer to me. You and I would hang out all of the time to drink wine, BBQ, and talk Disney while our spouses just roll their eyes at us.
Yes, definitely! But, ohhh....how they will come around to the dark side of drink, Disney, and excess!
WOW! There is some beautiful work in both of your back yards!! Looks like we may have the chance to take 5 days or so in our new RV. Going to our son's and then on up the coast a ways into Oregon.
Keep in mind that it is Rose Festival in the Portland area, so it will be raining this weekend for the Grand Floral parade! Cannon Beach is having their sand castle contest this weekend as well if they are going to be in the area it's kind of a neat thing to check out.
Got my new wood pellet smoker grill...Well, most of it. For some reason all of the equipment wasn't shipped. It should be here any day now. But, I did get the smoker up and running. It's a littler trickier than using a regular grill. I made hamburgers the first night. They had a great mesquite smoky flavor. Last night, I made shish kabobs with steak, peppers, mushrooms, onion, pineapple and bbq potatoes. My neighbor is going to get sick of smelling my smoke.
Should be very fun and exciting. Our daughter and her husband are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a Vow Renewal and Luau.
Just came here to say that it's really sad that LP is such a ghost town. I joined around 2001??? Anyway, I see some of you are still hanging in. I got sort of depressed thinking about how lively this site was. I'm assuming Doobie still runs it? Anyway, that's all I had to say lol
Going out to Long Beach with Steve and the dogs. Looking forward to not doing ANY yard work this weekend...LOL!!
Hi. Welcome back. It is kinda sad. Check-in once in awhile and maybe things will pickup again. People started getting aggressive back in the day--well a few meanies did, anyway. Once they spoiled the fun, they moved on to Facebook.
Same thing I do every Saturday, when I'm home: an organ lesson in Long Beach (if I continue indefinitely, I will remain a ham-handed beginner indefinitely, but it keeps me out of trouble, and it keeps me humble), followed by a day of docenting at the International Printing Museum.
Staying inside, trying to keep cool as much as possible. Sunday, I will take my Dad out for breakfast--our weekly alone time. (Nobody else wants to get up and go out for breakfast as early as we do!) Then, I'll go to the mall for a little people-watching, a little shoppin', Wetzle's Pretzels, Fuzziwig's Candy Factory, Johnny Rocket's for lunch, and just play it by ear after that.
I am worrying about this. My daughter's luau is in a park and it is predicted to be 102º. I am afraid people won't show up. And those of us who do are going to ROAST!!!!
It's really tricky to plan an outdoor event this time of year. A luau sounds like fun though. A few years ago, I invested a few bucks in a couple of good portable misting fans. They help a little bit. Water guns, water balloons...? Cold fruit and lots of cold drinks. I hope it all works out good for you.
I have actually contemplated going to the $store for some little battery operated fans. We will have bottled water on ice for sure. There is a big pavilion for shade so hopefully we will all survive.
The luau was great. Many people who RSVP'd did not show but my son says that is what millennials do. I am sure some were deterred by the heat but we have a thing called a *Delta Breeze" that came up and kept things very comfortable. (By the time we were cleaning up it was darn near a hurricane!) My daughter's kids do Polynesian dance and their troop came out and did a full performance for us. People were very impressed as they are quite professional. We will be eating Kalua Pig, rice, teriyaki chicken, musubi and guava cupcakes for days to come. My daughter's favorite attraction is Haunted Mansion so I had to buy them this on our trip last year. Then...………..I forget to take it to the party But she squealed with delight and nearly cried when I gave it to her yesterday. Still, I am upset the party guests did not get to see it.
Trying to salvage our nectarines with some canning. Then a barbeque with friends this evening. Then catching and butchering rabbits Sunday and Monday.
Hopefully I'll finally get a chance to see this. I've been wanting to, since it was first announced. Fred Rogers was such a gentle, kind soul and a man of God.
