Our annual Krazy Krafts Day for Kids, at the Museum. (Originally, it was Kids' Krazy Krafts Day, until somebody realized that three Ks in a row might be misinterpreted.
Ye vish! That was grueling! 400 people showed up, and we were short on docents. Both Linotypes were running, along with the Ludlow. Slow start on the Ludlow, but once things got moving, I was swamped.
Today we visited a dear old friend who has been institutionalized for dementia. Her condition has deteriorated much more quickly that expected. A very sad day indeed. Now we are going to eat pizza, drink and watch Bohemian Rhapsody.
I'm watching People and Places movies. Watching "The Danube" from the Disney series. Winston Hibler is the voice that put a million jr. high students to sleep, but not me. Yes, I am boring. Have clothes on, not eating jello.
I feel your pain. Having gone through that myself, with my late mother, I can think of nothing more depressing than watching a loved one's marbles slowly drain away. I'm now feeling the aftereffects of Saturday. When I run the Ludlow for a special event, I give visitors the run of both cabinets; it makes it more interesting for me, makes a better demonstration of what a Ludlow is all about for the visitors, and it gives me more exercise. I'm feeling the aftereffects of that exercise in my thighs: more deep knee bends in under six hours than I normally do in six weeks.
Going to McMinnville this weekend to celebrate April birthdays. I believe we will be going to opening night of Pet Sematary...totally excited about this one!!
Okay, this weekend is our March/April birthday picnic. Then Sunday we will leave for our son's farm. There is very limited reception there so I will probably be gone for about 10 days.
Where is your son's farm? I remember you telling us a while back, but my brain isn't cooperating quite yet this morning.
They are north of Willits which is north of Ukiah. They are several miles east of Hwy101. They are going to a festival and we will be farm sitting.
Hmm. The crops can probably take care of themselves, but the livestock will probably be an adventure. This weekend is the monthly docent meeting at the Museum.
After many years, I'm planning on insulating my garage door. I'm trying to prepare, slowly, for those hot days of summer.
I thoroughly enjoy the goats. One is expected to kid while we are there. If it goes well, as it should; it will be cool. On the other hand; we have to watch and if the tobacco blooms we have to move it out of the greenhouse. There is really only a few hours work a day and then we can play games or watch movies or go hiking and fishing.
Not a particularly good day at the Museum. Our newest tour guide was abandoned by his very first solo tour group, right before they would have come to me in the 1950s Shop. And we discovered that a technical problem with the new Windmill was more than just a simple adjustment. But on the bright side, my star Linotype student handled a large tour group rather well, except for a small technical glitch that he didn't know how to deal with. Then, Sunday night, Cameron Carpenter in recital at Disney Hall. I think he's starting to mellow a bit.
Sounds like fun. I'll be watching old Disneyland anthology series episodes, fully clothed out of respect for Walt.
We will be in Long Beach this weekend with the dogs. I am going to enjoy an apple fritter from the Cottage Bakery, and a big ol' pizza from Chicos. If we are lucky there will be some naked time in there somewhere since it's supposed to rain all weekend, and there's not all that much to do anyway.
The International Printing Museum is not far from Long Beach (assuming you're not talking about Long Beach, NY), and it's open Saturdays, 10-4. "Naked time"? Is this thread turning into Nudist-L?
It is in Washington. I didn't realize there were so many different Long Beaches...LOL! I think @crazycroc is having a "bad" influence.
Yeef: I didn't realize how many there were, either: Long Beach (disambiguation) - Wikipedia As to the International Printing Museum, it's in Carson, California, just minutes away from Long Beach, either via the 405, or via the Vincent Thomas Bridge and the Harbor Freeway.
