Watched it late one night alone. Loved it. Instant Hitchcock fan. Then when I take a film class in college, I see on our syllabus that "Psycho" is on the list. Great! I'd love to see it again. So we watch it (I'm in the middle of the room), when we get to the shower scene. Well, because this is a classroom, the volume is up pretty loud, and this time when "Mother" stabs Marion, I can actually hear the knife penetrating her skin---in a sickening way. Over and over. It just seemed too realistic, and it affected me too much. I got reeeeeally light-headed and knew I had to get out of that room. However, bein' a college guy, I didn't wanna leave right after the scene so people would murmur "Hey, that guy couldn't take the shower scene!", so I sat for a few minutes trying to compose myself, and then I finally got up. I left the room, was extremely light-headed and weak with my vision getting weird, and literally staggered down the hall to a water fountain---any water fountain, I just had to find one. I did, but I was so weak I couldn't stand up, and luckily there was this chair nearby. So I dragged over and sat in it while drinking and dipping my face in the water to "snap me out of it". After a few minutes I was okay and went back, and I've seen "Psycho" several times since. But I keep the volume low during that scene!

Not as well known as some of his others, and one of my favorite movies ever. And while I know plenty of people who don't like 2001, I don't think I've ever met anyone (till, perhaps, just now) who didn't like Dr. Strangelove.

Seriously, I happened to have this same thought a couple of weeks before this thread, and I’ve figured out that my memory is jumbled (old age, you know), but I am sure it was a musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein. My folks took me to all of their movies. I also think that Stanly Kubric is over rated, although I think a few of his movies are terrific, including my favorite movie of all time: 2001: A Space Odyssey!!!!!!! Go seanyoda!!!

I thought it was really wonderful to see an epic film on the big screen. There was also an intermission which I've never encountered with the movie-going experience, so it was a special time.

I cried and hid under my seat al the way through the movie. Then, for some reason, at the end I decided I liked him. So when his spaceship left, I yelled loud enough for the entire theater to hear, "I'm gonna miss you E.T.!" I also made my mom draw me a picture of him when we got home. Apparently I slept with that picture for weeks, until it disappeared. I also remember being convinced some nights that E.T. was living in my closet.
