The free van? The brand-new house? Women who give birth to six, seven or eight babies are often showered with dazzling gifts from big corporations, local businesses and strangers. But that is not happening with the Southern California mother who delivered octuplets last week. The news that she is a single mother with six other children — and that all 14 were conceived by having embryos implanted — seems to have turned off many people, and companies are not exactly rushing to get publicity by piling on the freebies. Nadya Suleman, 33, has been lambasted by talk-show hosts, fertility experts, even her own mother, who has her hands full taking care of Suleman's other children, ages 2 to 7. >> The most interesting part is... >>Suleman's income is unclear. She was employed by a mental hospital from 1997 through 2008. >>> She worked at a mental hospital and no one saw anything odd her?

Course for obvious reasons I'll need to marry first.

I'm not saying that priests are loading their sermons with explicit exhortations that parishioners have as many children as possible. But the Church sends that same message in many subtler ways. >>It would have been better all around had those children never been born.< no, it would be better if they were placed with a loving family not if they had not been born. A lot of famous people came from screwed up families. I feel for the kids in this situation, I understand why it upsets you, but the blame if you will is misplaced.<< Ummmmm, no. With all respect, it would have been best if these children would never have been conceived in the first place. I honestly don't get the Catholic Church's position. So... It's a sin to have sex in any way that won't cause procreation (i.e., masturbation, oral sex, homosexuality). It's a sin to have heterosexual vaginal sex outside of marriage. It's a sin to use any form of contraception while having heterosexual vaginal sex while married. And yet, if any of these forbidden acts of sex result in a pregnancy, that pregnancy is a blessed event. Huh? More specifically, this un-married woman who doesn't have the resources to care for her children has used artificial means to have children 14 times. Why would the Catholic response to that be "We welcome these gifts to God!" instead of "That should not have happened"?
