When I worked in heath insurance, just one premature baby could run over a million dollars. The two biggest risk groups to a group health plan are smokers and women in child bearing age. I have no doubt that the hospital bills are in the multiple millions of dollars. And unfortunately, the medical costs for these children are just beginning. Humans are not designed to give birth to eight children at a time. There will be physical and mental ramifications to the offspring.

There is something inherently wrong with that.

There's just no way that such a cost is in line with reality; a price tag that almost no one could possibly pay for a situation that is relatively common? It's completely mispriced!

Never said it was right, but you are talking about round the clock intensive care, sometimes for a relatively long period of time depending on how premature the child is. It starts to add up.

LOL, yes and then she forgot to consider that AJ is worth more money then most and that AJ adopted half of HER children and that last time I checked BP hadn't been cloned yet...;D

I am sooo hoping that NO companies will sponser her and that Welfare won't assist her.

I totally agree with you X ...........and here is why:

1)malpractice insurance is extremely high for delivery medics--- just might be the absolute highest in the entire medical field due to out of control sue happy parents or would be parents and irresponsible juries.

2) medic's salaries and fees are too high for what they contribute

3) hospitals 'pad'---that is they charge way, way, WAY above and beyond what is fair--- when they add every drug to the total patient's bill.

And some of those drugs are already very expensive even before the hospitals do their mark ups. The drug companies spend truckloads of money on research and getting FDA approval and then they want gov't patent protection which keeps that drug price high.

4) the medical equipment used is extremely expensive due to precision/safety standards/economies of scale.

Also a friend of mine who is in medicine said that because of the people who default on payments, or give false information, they end up jacking up the prices on the people who do pay to recover that cost. I was watching a new interview this morning where they took a camara into the neonatal ICU, and showed those poor babies. It turned my stomach. In the interview I think the mother inadvertantly revealed why she did it, "I just longed for cretain connections and attachments with another person that I really lacked, I believe, growing up." The insane selfishness is mindboogling.

I heard this today. The grandmother is taking care of the 6 at home & can't take it anymore. Mother & 8 babies still in hospital. I guess the mother is trying to get some sort of reality TV contract! Unreal!!

I feel sorry for the grandmother. I thought after hearing the grandfather coming out in the beginning with what sounded like a united front, they had no problems with this, but it sounds like they do. It sounds like she loves her daughter and the grandkids, but her daughter simply took it too far by having 8 more and expected her to just go along with it.

In that same interview, she said the original donor of the first six kids was actually her boyfriend originally and wanted to marry her, but she turned it down because she simply wanted to focus on motherhood or something like that.

This is just one bizarre case thats gets stranger and stranger.

but 15+ kids gets you the talk show circuit, a mini van and a new house.


Just a guess here but I'd say that smoking a joint and not bothering anyone is better for society than tax payers financing 15+ births.
