My mom used to threaten to sell me to the indians (or gypsies depending on her mood) when I was being bad. I always wondered how she would "call" them. (Obviously WAY before cell phones).

I still get the heebie jeebies when I see the one picture in my baby album of me in my crib & that clown is sitting on the dresser next to me!

We also watched plenty of live action shows for kids, and knew those weren't commercials, so I don't really know how we came to that conclusion. There were some shows that were created with older kids (teens, probably) in mind, and we were never quite sure what to think of those. I thought that all times were given in the style of "8:30, 7:30 Central", like they said in ads for TV shows. I would ask my parents how much longer it would be until "8:30, 7:30 Central", so I could watch whatever show it was, and they just sort of went along with it. >>When he got to the age where the "Where do babies come from?" talk was needed, I had given him this book to read. I can't think of what it was called, but it explained it a kid-friendly way and then you could talk it over.<< I'm pretty sure my brother and I had that same book when we were little. Ours was called "The Stork Didn't Bring Me". Technically it was his (I think he was approaching the age where questions arise when he got it), and since he was older than me, I just sort of learned about it before I really had a chance to wonder on my own.

I thought that too...I can't remember how many times my mom said something was too expensive and I relied "you could write a check." Today my kids think that credit/debit cards are like that. I will say something is too expensive and they will say "just put it on your card".
