All of us here on LP know that there is NO WAY to see and do everything in 3 days...especially since they have no intention of doing the "open to close" kamakazi trip. They even think that they don't need to use the one day of early entry. Their plan is to get to the park at about 10, and stay until 3 or 4, then go do something else. In talking to them, they have the feeling that Disneyland is just a bigger version of a State Fair...and they call me an "obsessed freak", so they think that I am exaggerating the length of time needed to fully enjoy the park. I know that they will have a fun time, and come home with great memories, but I think they are going to miss far more than they see, and I think they will go home with a lot of regrets. There's nothing I can do about that, as hard as I've tried. Too bad about the wheelchair lines...my mom will be in one next week. Stuff like that will really cut into their riding time. They actually think that you just walk onto the rides...no waiting necessary. I had someone take a picture for me of the stand-by times posted in the park so I could show them.

I would say let them do what they want and if they want to catch up with you be open - but don't let them drag you down!! My sister doesn't get it either - they go about once every 18mos and complain about everything and say what a waste of money it was -(they do packages at dl hotel?) Dl was very fun last week and the vodka and rum added to the fun and bringing our own just cut down the costs - just drank one or two mid day (3 or 4pm)nice little buzz but not drunk - early enough to be sober for the drive back to the hotel and midnight! I would ask what the policy is regarding wheelchairs and fastpasses - can you have your mom wait by the wheelchair enterance and meet you with your fastpasses - if so this would probably be more efficiant, just make sure she has a fast pass too. Don't let their misunderstanding of the promised land dampen your spirits...Aren't there a few days they will be at other parks in san diego???

My best friend doesn't drink either, which is nice since I don't feel like the only fuddy-duddy. Now my hubby is funny, give him 1 beer and he's history! lol Next time you're out try the B52, I think you'll like it!

So is it equal amounts of each? Do I use a tradional shot glass, the double shot, or my pirate shot glass...In disney terms this would be the toothpick holder, stir stick holder, or straw holder...lol

You end up with "layers" of the different liquors.

Good lord, mickeynewe...for not being a drinker, you sure got the technical info dialed in. Not only will we let you be our designated driver, but you can be our bartender, too. villains says she's very picky, and then she goes on to list about a dozen drinks that she likes!!! If she were truly picky, TWO drinks would have been sufficient. The woman sounds like quite the lush to me, what do you think, mickewnewe? My kind of gal to be sure, but a lush nonetheless. villains...yes, the half-wits are going to Universal on Tuesday, and the San Diego zoo on Thursday. Since they plan on hanging out at the hotel sunday, the only days I will have to deal with them are monday, wednesday and friday. Our hotel has a fridge, and I estimate it will hold 50-60 jello shooters, so this will not be a problem for me. Bottom line...I'm gonna have fun...we're all gonna have fun. I just do NOT want to hear the b#$*&ing about the miserable train ride, the stinky bus, the fact that it's hot, and the lines are long, and they didn't get to do stuff because they were stupid. With my mom in a wheelchair, I know I can out run her if she starts in. I'm pretty sure I can also take my 70 year old dad. As far as the others go, I have an advantage because they have never been to the park before, and not a one of them can read a map. I'll just say, "Sorry, I'd love to hear your tales of woe, but I gotta winkle. Why don't you meet me over at the statue of King Neptune?" It will take them ALL DAY to find me. Of course, I will be no where near the statue. I got no problem with ditching that bunch. I love them with all my heart, but I'll ditch 'em just the same.

(I am beginning to show the signs of aging, I guess...) I had fun meeting Mickeynewe and her family, as tired as I was on what was that day again? lol Boy, the next day was tough, we decided we should never take a 5:30am flight again ever! We had an hours sleep over something like 3 days. MollysMom, you are going to have the best trip report! That will give me something to look forward to after I'm home and sad.

But tell them to take lots of wet wipes - last time we went the animals had cleaner exhibits than people area!! The bus/tram is worth the time if they sit at the top! < If you want them to look "pretty" the way they are supposed to> I can honestly say I have never ordered a pretty drink!! We have a place down here about 20 min from my house called Bing Crosbys - it has tons of different Martinis all named from Bings songs...From a chocolate martini to traditional...I am planning on going there eventually - but I have never had a martini so I don't know where to begin... Oh well MOLLYSMOM you must be packed by now and just sitting by the window waiting to leave, WE got back a week ago tonight and my DS18 just asked if it felt like a month ago to me too...Yep. I am trying to sneak another trip in, but hubby is catching on to my little trick and pressuring me to do stupid things like - see the doctor again about the ankle surgery, have a mamagram, get a physical...SO boring next to DL!! Well I am just finishing off the last of the mudslide bottle, so it must be about time to go to bed - Type you later! Tink - I hope your trip is truely magical
Originally Posted By MOLLYSMOM mornin'villains... Now that you've polished off your bottle of mudslides, your week probably isn't as crummy as it started out. Yup, DD and I have been packed since February, actually. I'm going to the bank today to get my spending money, and that's it. I still have to check the critters at the last minute, and make sure the chlorine is "set" in the pool, but I really can't do that until Saturday. We're having a pool party then, and I'll have a few things to pick up after that, but for all intents and purposes, I'm ready to rock. In the meantime, I've been antsy here at work, mostly whining and taking FOREVER to do the easiest of tasks...pretty much just bugging my boss all around. Thankfully, he is a great guy, and a dear friend, so he puts up with me. Besides, he says my job stinks, so he HAS to keep me around to do it. I gotta take your DH's side...but just this once. Go get your ankle done. It apparently won't get any better on its own, and it will probably get worse the longer you put it off. That could potentially mess up future Disney trips. Well, the half-wits leave tomorrow at noon...or so they say. Knowing my sister, she won't actually get her crud together until 1 or 2. My dad is pretty anal like myself, and he won't be too happy if he has to wait. My mom, on the other hand, will complain about sis being late for the whole trip to Yakima, and then have to tell my other sister about it once she gets there. There are 4 of us kids. We know that our mom loves us more than anything. We also know that she loves to complain about us whenever she gets the chance. We actually think it's pretty funny, and try to "get her going"...which drives dad NUTS...which we also think is pretty funny. One would think that now that we are all in our 40's we would behave like adults, but none of us see that happening anytime soon.

Nevermind, nope, those are staying hidden away! I stopped drinking when I wanted to have a baby, and just never started back up again after that. (Albeit I will do the occasional toast when circumstances deem it appropriate but that is pretty much it) See what an EXCELLENT role model I am! Good thing Slurpees aren't booze, I'd be in a world of hurt! Anytime you need a bartender though, I'm your gal! Just drop your keys off as you come in the door-- and the rest is all good! Sounds like to me with your family coming in you'd better ask for a second fridge in the room. Not quite sure that's going to be enough shooters to see you through THIS adventure. As for villians, must say I have to side with you on this one--- doesn't sound TOO picky to me! lol I also vote for the surgery! Better to get it out of the way so you can enjoy more fun-filled days of Disney ahead!! Glad to hear you aren't afraid to ditch. There would be times I'd lose my sanity if I didn't. I love all my family dearly, but sometimes too much of a good thing...is just too much! This gal definitely needs her space!! Although, I think you need to go to a t-shirt shop. Since it is impolite to say "I told you so" and I know how POLITE you are.....when they start complaining about the bus/train you just need to smile, not say a word, then casually slip a t-shirt out of your bag and over your head that reads in big letters, I TOLD YOU SO! Then merrily skip along to the next happy place in Disneyland as you wave over your shoulder to them. Of course the back of the t-shirt will read, NEXT TIME MAYBE YOU'LL LISTEN TO ME! That should fix them all up good! AND, your mom will be happy to have something to chat about while you're gone. hehehe

Maybe tomorrow we can read about the folks getting on their way. Boy, that Wild Animal Park was exhausting. Too much walking and not enough animals to see. I remember it being a lot nicer the last time. (5 years ago.) We went to the beach today to rest up from it. We have 2 days left that will Disney days. Time goes by so fast when you're on vacation. It seems like we just arrived 2 days ago. I am watching the tonight show now and they are showing a skit from the XGames, we went there last Fri. Villains mentioned having her ears and backpack swiped at DL, I won a cool pair of headphones at the XGames and when we got to the car, my DS was excited to try them out. They weren't in our bag anymore! Last night we went to Walmart for stuff for the beach today and DS saw the headphones for sale there for $40. Now, I'm really ticked that they were swiped! lol (When I thought they cost about $10, it didn't bother me so much!)

I got back up and DH says to stand sideways b/c the waves won't knock you over. So, I stood sideways and got knocked right over and the wave drug me over the rocks and sand and pulled me right back to the beach. That was the end of my dip! (I got pretty banged up, too, but luckily my top stayed on!)

MOLLYSMOM - next week will be boring without you - but I hope you have a great trip - You don't need to get shirts made I saw some at our local Steve and Barrys (do you have one yet) that simpley says I am with stupid...Or you can get the DL version that says I am Grumpy because you are Dopey...Just save it for when they are around!!hehehhehehahahhahah - I am too funny tonight, well at least that is what the guy on Brain Academy said (nintendo ds) <I've been antsy here at work> Doesn't the boss know you need to rest so you will be refreshed for your vacation? YOu are going to the Promised land, wait DL doesn't have a Promised land-okay your are going to Fantasyland, Fronteirland, Adventureland, and most of all Tomorrowland - so doesn't he see you will know what the future will be like in tomorrowland - so really this should be a business trip - you will be able to tell him about future travel and such, so he will know what kind of cars to order If DL had a pastland he would know not to order Probes(first model),Aerostars and Excursions - since it seems to be rule of thumb with Ford if I like a vehicle and really want it for a long time and then finally get one - quit making it!! See how much help DL and I could be to his business... ;D mickeynewe You can play bartender whenever you want - I never drink and drive (did once 20 years ago unintentionally, very scary) Just make the drinks taste and strong, ;D... Tink - get off the computer and rest - you still have two more glorious days in the Happiest Place on Earth...Enjoy... Type at you all later!

However, I'm feelin' pretty good that it means I only have three days before I get there. I will try to shed a tear for you sometime today. Well, that stinks about the Animal Park. I've always heard great things about it. In fact, we plan to head back to San Diego for our next vacation, and that is one of the places I want to see. DH can carry me if I get tired, he's strong. I think you gals are onto something about the t-shirts. villains...we DO have a Steve and Barry's here. I always forget the actual name, so DH, DD and I call it Ben and Jerry's. I love the t-shirts there. There are some hysterical ones. They are right across the street from work here in the mall. I might have to take a little jaunt over there at lunchtime. Good thinkin'. You guys told me not to SAY "I told you so", but you never said I couldn't WEAR it. I was thinkin' that the saying "I'm Grumpy 'cause I'm with Dopey" might be a good title for my trip report. Yes, tink, I AM starting my trip report today, so stay tuned. mickeynewe...just what DO you consider to be the "occasional toast?" One could find reasons to toast something every day, if you thought about it. Ok, I'm off to check that thread about the Cove Bar that villains mentioned, and then I will start my trip report.
