I decided to break down and just pay the $1600 for airfare and be done with it so after checking all of the sites over and over and over again throughout the day yesterday and today, the cost is now between 1800 and 2,000! Unbelievable! (I have checked every day, since March except for three days in June when I couldn't get on the internet! It's making me buggy!) The fares change every time I look, so I just keep hoping that one of the times there will be a fare I can grab!
In a related story, the fares to Orlando are still $49 on SW, so I called WDW with the discount codes to see about possibly changing our trip to FL. (which is not something I want to do, we have everything planned out for CA, but at least we wouldn't be sitting home feeling sorry for ourselves.) The discount rooms were sold out and the Moderate Hotels were going for $175 a night. (I guess that would eat up the airfare savings pretty quick!)
I'm not giving up! Two Dings came up on SW today. One for LAX and one for SNA...for September...Darn! Maybe Tuesday's sale...but...probably not!
I hope you're feeling well, Mickeynewe! I hope I can see you there in a couple of weeks!

I bought tix home on SW and for the way there, I put a set on hold for 24 hours at American, in case the rates went down, I wouldn't be locked in. I rushed to do this all this afternoon before going into work. (I was so afraid the rates would go back up again like they did yesterday.) Anyway, I just HAD to look, when I got home and if I had waited to purchase a RT flight, I'd have saved $160. UGH! This stuff drives me nuts! I know it happens to all of us, I'm not the only one, even though I feel like I am now! I've already go the SW tix on my credit card, so even if I cancel those and use the credit for later, I'd still have to pony up the $850.
I know, I know, I should be happy, I bit the bullet and I can make it to DL, but I have to get over this first! Maybe by Tuesday, I'll be over it...

I bet you'll be over it BEFORE tuesday....you're going to Disneyland!!! It doesn't get much better than that.

Have the bestest time, and if you run into Mickeynewe, give her a huge hug and smooch on the cheek (the cheek on her face) from me.

Hey, at least I can have my own little driving fantasy at Autopia!

Sooooooo...if you decide to check out Autopia, don't you think it may be prudent to hang one of those handicapped stickers somewhere on your car? I work at a car dealership, and I could go over to our licensing department and see if I can speed up the paperwork for ya.

Now that doesn't surprise me! Aren't you the one married to the DH who said clothes were optional? ROTFL

Oh, how hilarious would that be to hang out a sign --- hehehe Driver's beware when I get behind the wheel!

I'm gonna run across to the other building and ask our licensing department what they do with the expired handicapped thing-a-ma-jigs. Maybe I can talk them into giving me one. Oh, gosh, that would be so insanely funny, but it would be good to alert the other drivers just in case your meds are still a bit off.

We discuss at length, while in line, that this is not allowed and make sure that one of us gets the car in front of him! I should have a hanging placard for his car, too!)
I actually did not buy the fare out yet...can you believe it? I had it on hold for 24 hours and got back late last night and noticed the prices were dropping. Since today is Tues. I thought I'd take a huge gamble and see if SW had a new sale for me. They didn't, but the prices have remained the same and not gone up. There is actually a flight that leaves on the 30th instead of the 31st and I'd save a whole $42 if I take that, but I'd get another day there, but pay for the hotel and I'm going to see if the rental car fee changes now.
I wanted to see if I can find which days Mickeynewe will be there again. ( ithink it was 7/28-31) I'll search the posts now.

tink...GET YOUR AIRFARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are gonna nickel and dime yourself to death and before ya know it, someone's gonna snag up all the remaining seats, and then you and your family are gonna be sittin' curbside crying and ya won't get to meet mickeynewe and her family and ya won't give her a hug for me......

I went over to our DMV department here at work to see if I could get 2 expired handicapped stickers. Well, according to them, you have to turn in your expired sticker when you get your new one, and the old ones get destroyed so that no one else can use them. I explained what I needed them for, and while they thought it would be a "hoot", I'm having a hard time gettin' them to break the rules.

I DO have other connections that I'll try. I am not willing to give up just yet. If worse comes to worse, I may consider stealing the one out of my folk's car. They can get a replacement easy enough. I have another friend at the County DMV that has a great sense of humor...I'll give her a call.

mickeynewe...it's the barf bag incident all over again, isn't it?????

Of course, the media will blow it WAY out of proportion and the next thing you'll now you will be hitting the talk show circuit --- after you get probation for stealing. Of course, I will have to get on a plane and first BAIL you out of jail before ANY of this can happen.

*tsk, tsk* I knew you were on your way down the wrong path with boxcutters and cement shoes.

As far as the barf bag --- I have saved a search on Ebay, which means any time one gets listed it will automatically notify me. I shall find one!

I have been going back and forth with the figures and waiting for hubby to call back with his opinion. (Which I don't know why I'm asking b/c his opinion is always, "Do whatever you think is best." lol) I was pricing tix for me and the boys, DH AP is current 'til 8/19. Ours exp. in Dec. They cost $562 @ Amusement park.com for 5 days, and then I'll upgrade later. I bought a coupon on Ebay for San Diego WAP. I have figured in 2 beach days, one day for the X Games in LA (that's what got me into this time period to begin with...the high airfare time period! lol) I wanted to go see San Juan Capistrano. It looks so peaceful there. That probably wouldn't take a whole day. I just remembered, I had wanted to check out one of the mineral springs now I'm running out of days! I am going to decide within the next hour, I swear!

I WAS however, looking foreward to the talk show circuit deal. I may steal the geezer's handicapped sticker anyway, just for the fun of it.

Well, I'm so happy that the two of you can hook up I could just burst. Not really, I am extremely bent that I can't come join in the fun, and if I knew how to spell the "raspberry" sound I would spell it here.

tink, while I am VERY impressed with the fun-time schedule you have shared with us, you ain't goin' no where, girl, 'til you get that airfare handled!!!!! Listen to your DH (what the heck did I just say?) and "Do what you think is best" like he says.

Perhaps you will think it's best to fly first class in new clothes, too...thank you, hubby.

Now, get the heck off the boards for a minute and get you airfare. Next time we see you, you better be providing us with flight and gate numbers.

mickeynewe...whatever shall we do with her? You know how I asked her to give you a hug and smooch from me? Well, if you get the chance to meet up with her, would you be so kind as to slap her around a bit for me? She's makin' me nutty here. Thanks, babe, I knew ya'd be there for me.
