If you’re the youngest by 9 or more years, the shortest by several feet…whose bad idea was it to make entire families go into a machine where they would get shorter? Nobody understood. If I got any shorter, I’d disappear. I could clearly see it happening, dozens of people going up the microscope to their tiny demise. I was horrified, and made sure the entire Park knew it. I recall a lot from that trip, though I was only 4. The Mine Train, the cactus, the caves, the geysers. Abraham Lincoln, where I thought that it was nice he could still be alive in DL, even though he was dead everywhere else. Pirates, lots and lots of pirates. The Indian powwow. Autopia. Circle-vision. America Sings, or whatever it was in that building at the time. The sky ride. Peter Pan especially, and the other dark rides. Dumbo. The Jungle Cruise and shooting the hippo. Country Bear Jamboree. So much Small World that the rest of my family can’t even listen to the song anymore. That’s what they get for buying me the record. Did anyone else have the record? The hyena's were my favorite. Everyone’s convinced I went on the Matterhorn, but I don’t remember it.

Random memories from childhood trips: I remember my grandmother singing along loudly in the Tiki Room and embarassing me and my brother. I remember being in the queue of Adventure Thru Inner Space and watching people going in and getting shrunk, and trying to figure out which miniaturized figure corresponded to which person ahead of us in line. I remember asking a Jungle Cruise skipper if the animals were real. (The hippos especially looked real to me.) I've never forgotten his response: "Of course they are. What do you think this is, Knott's Berry Farm?"

We took a yellow ford station wagon down from Sonoma County and my sister got sick in the car on the way! Ha! I do remember being enthralled as to how these Pirates kept missing me when they shot, and my sister hid in the front of the boat scared out of her 2 year old mind!

I was amazed how much of the park felt so familur , I guess watching The Walt Disney show, for the previous 13 years helped some , in that respect. The place was, and still is pure magic to me. I think my trip count is some where around 18 or 20 times down, maybe more ( certainly not less), kinda lost count. Hell we even had AP's one year, that was fun, should do that again. Last trip was March ( to DL), but the fun thing was I have been to WDW, (oct) DL (mar) and DLP (july) in less than a year. I should try and do that again as well.

The trip that REALLY started my Disney addiction was in 2003 with my hubby and my 5 sons.... in 2002,we had a death in our family that was devastating to us, and a year later we took our trip to Disneyland to get us back into life again. We loved it so much, that we have gone every year since, and even went twice in the last year ! We are heading back in less than 2 weeks, and we believe it truly is The Happiest Place On Earth !!!
