I would've fought you on that a couple years ago. Now, I am right there with you. I have swung so far to the left of late(compared to where I was) that I am feely a little woozy. There used to be a semblance of logic within conservativism. That all went out the window when the tea-baggers took over.

Is it any wonder the GOP is trying desperately to outlaw the teaching of critical thinking in public schools?

The Huffington Post is reporting that after explaining on his Facebook page why he allowed the House to vote yesterday to reopen the government Boner was slammed by a barrage of nasty criticism from his right-wing Facebook "friends". http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...lider%2B From the link: >>Despite the backing of House conservatives, many of Boehner's Facebook friends weren't too keen on his decision. Boehner's Facebook fans called him an "asshat," a "sellout," Obama's "patsy," a "weasel piece of garbage" and a "Jellyfish."<< And these are some of the nicer things people had to say.

The only way I see them breaking this pattern would be an unadulterated electoral beating, a la Barry Goldwater or George McGovern. Even then, breaking the delusion will be difficult because they have what they perceive to be a “mandate” given in Congressional elections; nevermind the fact that the House majority is wholly manufactured (see Ohio). IF they opened the primaries and reformed district elections to mitigate partisan gerrymandering, I think we might see a return to Republican sanity. In other words, the GOP is toast because I doubt the second prescription will ever occur.

National single payer had zero chance of passing. The bell we got took all kinds of arm twisting and still barely passed. Single payer had no chance.
