do one up the same way with a Nathan's vs a Vienna Dog and most here would be OK with that

but remember all the hot dog manufacturers from chicago have their roots as german immigrants.

there are plenty of smaller run vienna and even oscar meyer products that are as tasty and spicy as any german sausage - also the same consistency...
the issue is their audience is smaller ( sounds like you would fit nicely though) --

here is you dont have the snap of natural casing and don't have a nice gralicky bite to it, it's not a real chicago dog.

a good kockwurst / or brat or thuringer is the way to go- especially on a grill...but again much smaller audience.

plenty of german delis here that still make their own hot dogs as well ( think micro breweries for beer) and they are great also.

for the dog, think very strong taste - not quite as strong as say lamb...but an aftertaste that you will either like or not.
I thought it was OK - but liked the kobe burger with blue cheese on it better ( on a pretzel roll)--

the taste of the kobe dog overpowers any toppings completely IMHO

Nice, nothing beats a Brat and a beer lol.. I think those 2 things are made for each other lol. If I am ever in Chicago again, I am going to have to check one of the smaller deli's out...

    kobe DOGS?

Burgers? Blue Cheese on a PRETZEL roll!!??

    lol. Americans sure are funny.

FWIW, Japanese themselves would never DREAM of chopping up or otherwise ruining their beautiful kobe steaks (and THAT'S the way you gotta eat it...NOT with blue cheese YUCK!).

And you also need the services of a master chef to prepare it just so (I don't suppose the burger flipper in a paper hat applying the sauerkraut qualifies?).

<--rolls eyes in amusement mixed with shame

The Park Grille is a top flight eatery - Zagat rated -- in case the name sounded like a McD's - it's definitely not.

    <a href="http://www.parkgrillchicago.com/grill/index.asp" target="_blank">http://www.parkgrillchicago.co...ndex.asp</a>

scan the menu - you'll find the kobe bruger on the dinner menu

j/k, but you gotta admit, that's a very American thing to do with high-quality cuisine ingredients.

And OMG, hot dogs!? For real????
