I'm a big boy. If I dish it out, I better be able to take it.

Some of us aren't in favor of them and are saying so. But the ones who seem to be for the changes just aren't saying "We think they'll be good", but are instead attacking posters who think they won't be. See the difference in behavior?

    Many are saying just that.

It's a DISCUSSION board. Somebody brings up a topic, and it's discussed. Sure, some may be overstepping a little and ridiculing those who are against the changes, but I haven't seen anything THAT bad.

You're right - I'm probably reading more into it because I'm on the other side of the argument. I withdraw my criticism!

Let me reword your post just a bit

It works both ways, it's a discussion board, just because you may not agree with someone you still have to let them voice their opinion.

I'm honestly curious as to what you find appealing about this? Why do you think it's a good idea?

I think it just adds another level of enjoyment for the ride. I don't think it dilutes the meaning of the ride - we still have children of all kinds, from all over the world, coming together in song and joy.

I think I'll also love the addition of subtle familiar Disney melodies being added to sections of the ride. The song, while wonderful, gets a little monotonous. This might enhance the ride by taking away a little of the "annoyingness" of the song.

I've never understood why people find the song so annoying - I just love it myself. And, throughout the ride, they have constantly changing melodies that change the "feel" of the music.

But to each his own I guess. I can certainly agree that getting stuck in any of those scenes can get terribly annoying after a minute or two!! ;-)

My sincerest apologies to anyone who feels I am ridiculing them. I try, as much as possible, to address ideas, rather than individuals. (See my post at the Marty Sklar thread to see further what I mean.)

Ridicule and disrespect have cut both ways in this debate. People are very passionate. I believe this is a good thing. Where the disconnect occurs is in making no effort to understand an opposing point of view. Unless a position is simply untenable, it should be treated with due respect. People should be able to disagree without being disagreeable.

Fair enough. I disagree, in that I think they'll be a bit of a distraction if anything. I don't know how interweaving Disney tunes into the song fits at all.

Sorry that I said you were ridiculing posters - I was feeling a little touchy and posted in haste. Guess I'm a little to passionate about this topic!!

I should mention, too, that I have learned that the "characters" we have been discussing are not new dolls, but are rather existing dolls in costumes that evoke the characters. I assume the mice and the White Rabbit and Stitch are new (unless the designers have repurposed existing mice and rabbits and... aliens).

I was wondering that or did they make new dolls to resemble the Mary Blair asthetic.

As utahjosh said <<From what i've seen, it's more like the children of the world are dressing up like Disney characters that represent their country.>> To me that's not anything terrible. Isn't Disney a worldwide name that many many people around the world love?

Also, I think it's almost like looking for hidden Mickeys or something-only not quite so hidden. LOL I love the characters because I am a Disney fan and so I just enjoy seeing them in different settings. I have Disney in my blood and I can find Disney references anytime anyplace, so why not in IASW too?

But that's just my humble opinion. You are entitled to yours, I won't try to change it because I can't. All we can do is discuss our opinions-since this is a discussion board, and I agree, I don't think anyone's gotten too terribly rude or vulgar about it. But it is something people are passionate about.
