I just can't see what they could add to the type of discussions we have here. On the 'magical' site, I often am engaged by people who were born in the 1990s -- some very intelligent and articulate -- but it's very hard to discuss Disney when their perspective is so divergent because they're relative babes in the world. I don't care whether kids post here or not, but I certainly wouldn't censor myself if they did.

After we all name who we want to get the ax or stay, and we all admit we don't have a clue who took the buyout, what then. I find a departure to galoshes refreshing.

The only draw back is you have to pay for it yourself. Those jobs can be pesky.

All I can say is -> Get a degree in something useful. Don't pursue a degree in something you like. Get one where there's lots of jobs. Lest you return back to school to get another degree. I laughed when I was told that. I didn't listen, it added another 3 yrs to my post secondary education. Or get into a trade. The sooner you start, the sooner you can retire. Wouldn't you rather retire in your 50's and have 30 years of fun? Living at home is fine, If you're saving for your future (or using it to say entertain yourself responsibly ) but don't "live in the basement". Have a life, use it as a place to crash. (That doesn't mean driving your moms vehicle into the garage door like someone I know )

I would not want to be a college grad getting out of school thinking there's going to even be a single job offer. It's just not reality. Every field is shrinking ... hell, when DL (where turnover was some absurd number) now has to close its casting center because no one is leaving and there aren't jobs to fill, it tells you plenty. I've told my young friends to go grad school, go abroad to study (if possible), even get MBAs ... but the idea is to delay getting out as long as you can (while hopefully not racking up huge student loan payments.) Independence is a great thing. And if Mom and Dad (and extended family) can set one up with it due to generational wealth, it's one thing ... but for someone coming from a working class (or lower middle class) USA upbringing, life can be a disaster if one just thinks they'll just strike out and make it on their own (for some reason I see MTM tossing her beret in the Minneapolis air!)
