What?! It closed?! Wait! How can that be?! Why wouldn't a Hard Rock thrive in the main cruiseline drop-off area of St. Thomas?!

I think it was 1996 that I visited.

Whoa. I'm not THAT fervent a Hard Rock fan. But I have kind of a fondness for it. And it seems to me that St. Thomas is a place where there "should" be one.

I believe Toronto's first Hard Rock was #2, at least that's what they told me. Also Hard Rock Toronto #2 is in the Skydome (I will not call it Rogers Centre) and is nice that if your lucky and time it you can eat while watching a game live. :)

I haven't traveled nearly as much in the last couple of years as previously though. Maybe I'll hit the Detroit one in spring, hint hint :)

I am not sure why it closed. It always seemed to do very well and it was in a great location. We were surprised when it closed. Then they went and opened a Wendy's in it's place. Now that is closed too, but I can understand that and saw it coming. It's a high rent building and it's not on the ground floor, not a good spot for a fast food place.

I've also visited the Hard Rock Vault, a smallish museum of music memorabilia in Orlando. Don't look for it now, as it opened and closed in a short period of time. Not a big surprise, as my wife and I were literally the only non-employees there the day we visited.

A few months ago I finally checked out the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa which has been open a few years and is about 10 minutes from where I live. Not being a gambler, there wasn't really much for me there beyond the usual gold records, costumes worn by famous rockers, etc.
