HOWEVER, the question clearly states above: Which is better? Disney or Disneyland

I'm assuming the origial poster meant MK or DL, but answering the question as it was written, Walt Disney World is obviously better. I'll revisit this topic in September (if I do go out west), and give an accessment on the MK vs DL.

Disneyland is still sparkling from its' 50th sprucing. And, MK currently needs some TLC, especially in the Haunted Mansion. I was surprised to see major chips of wood missing from the walls in MK's HM foyer, and messed up wallpaper and portraits in the stretching elevators. I'm so happy that MK's HM is finally getting some extra TLC in its' upcoming rehab!

I think you put your finger on things. The MK had plenty of soul ... and magic. But it's all been budgeteered out of the equation. Anyone who visited the park 15 years ago simply wouldn't believe it's the same place.

If I want to see a Magic Kingdom like Walt intended I'll go to DL. Sad to say it but Florida's Disney Empire is quickly becoming Wal-Mart's Disney World. Cookie-cutter, stale, a bit run down and over commercialized. WDW is quickly loosing it's soul and it won't be long before this comes back and bites Disney.....HARD!

jmuboy is entitled to his opinion, of course, but I completely disagree with it. There's still plenty of fun to be had in the MK. Yes, it's a bit rundown and in need of both maintenance and new attractions. And yes, compared to DL the park, DL blows it away. But you can still enjoy the wonderful vibe of a beautiful Main Street with a gorgeous castle at the end, ride rides like Big Thunder, Splash, Space Mtn., and experience a real working People Mover. You can revel in the nostalgia of the Carousel of Progress (which does need some of the above mentioned maintenance, but is still a wonderful, unique attraction). And you can't miss Philharmagic, probably the best 3D movie attraction Disney's done to date.

So don't pass up on the MK just because a few folks are overly disappointed in upkeep. It's still a pretty cool place to visit.

Isn't that like saying the war in Iraq isn't going that badly?

    1) IMO, MK's Splash Mt. rules over Disneyland's original darker version (except for DL's view on the last drop is better). For me, Splash Mt. is one of the few cases where a Disney E-ticket clone was built better than the original attraction. (DL's Space and Buzz would be the other two clones built better than the original attraction).

    2) MK's Fantasyland darkrides are better at storytelling than DL's Fantasyland rides (although DL's Fantasyland facades totally kick MK's butt.)

    3) MK's rocket ride is still mounted on top of the People Mover (TTA) loading tower, where DL's Astro Orbitors should still be.

    4) MK still have its' People Movers or TTA.

    5) MK still has Carousel of Progress.

    6) MK's Tomorrowland looks totally awesome at night.

    7) MK's Big Thunder rocks, especially at night!

    8) Arriving at MK's front gate by ferryboat or Monorail is really cool.

    9) MK's castle is impressive.

    10) The order of scenes in MK's Winnie the Pooh seems to tell a better story than DL's Pooh.

    11) The sets for Buzz are better. But, the DL clone was an improvement over the original with removable guns and targets that light up when hit.

    12) Philarmagic is awesome. I want this California!!!

    13) MK is so darn fun...especially at night during EMH!

But, DL still gets my vote for best U.S. magic kingdom style park for being chock full of great rides and full of charming and cool nooks and crannies to explore...day or night.

It's all in the perception. You and TDLFAN will always see the chipped paint and hear the bad sound on HM and smell the overflowing trashcans and experience nothing else. I acknowledge the problems, wish they would get fixed, and still enjoy the MK immensely in spite of them.

    The MK is missing:
    1. Subs
    2. Indiana Jones
    3. Matterhorn
    4. Mr. Toad
    5. Nightmare Before Christas
    6. Small World Christmas
    7. Dinorama
    8. Storybook Cannals
    9. Rodger Rabbit
    10. Alice in Wonderland
    11. Pinochio's Daring Journey
    12. Casey Junior's Circus Train
    13. Gadget's Go Coaster
    14. Columbia Sailing Ship
    15. Main Street Cinema
    16. Innovations
    17. Star Tours
    18. Honey I Shruk The Audience
    19. Davy Crocket's Canoes
    20. Walt Disney Story/ Lincon
    21. Golden Horseshoe
    22. Disney Gallery
    23. Fantasmic
    24. Donald's Boat
    25. Chip and Dale's tree house
    26.. Fantasyland Theater
    27. Snow

Superior at Disneyland over MK clones:
    1. Tiki Room (original is better)
    2. Pirate's (twice as long)
    3. Space Mountain (faster, music, better effects)
    4. All Fantasyland (more detail at DL)
    5. Toon Town (more detail than Mickey's Fair and better rides)
    6. Atuopia (MK is cold and ugly)
    7. Haunted Mansion (effect's better at DL and maintained at DL)
    8. All Entertainment is better at Disneyland (parades, shows, etc.)
and DL dosen't charge for the Christmas Parade.
    9. Splash Mt's drop is better
    10. Adventureland is better at DL because it dosn't have an ugly spinner in the middle of the pathway.
    11. Placement of Westside is better at DL. (I don't like how MK's splash is cramed next to Thunder.)

DL blows MK away! And rumors are saying there is alot more comming to DL to enhance existing attractions as well as new attraction including a new e-ticket.

Meanwhile MK is getting poor attractions like Monster's Comedy Club, Sticth and Philarmagic (which I hear is a good attraction) but, still it's another 3D film.

I guess Disney figures they don't have to do much to the MK because people still keep comming. MK was reported as #1 in global attendence.

    Good times for DL!
