(Splash Mountain is the notable exception- it's timeless with toons.) They've already turned the Submarine Voyage and Small World into completely children's rides by tooning them up. Fantasyland and Mickey's Toontown are children's places through and through. I personally would love to see D-land as more of what it was originally conceived as-a family park, not a kids' park.

In fact, I liked it --- it was kind of toned down. And the ride looked fantastic, fresh paint and all. Looked great! I'm not a huge fan of the new boats, but I get why they did it.

Nothing was taken away but the water wheel and pulley system, which was neat but didn't make the attraction. And so what, they switched out an old Disney movie theme for a newer Disney movie theme.

Millions of kids (and adults alike) spent way too much time watching and studying the water system of the old treehouse. It definitely made the Attraction. Two other things were taken away: all the leaves, to be replaced by plastic frond-ish leaves that don't look nearly as realistic--and, oh, yeah, any other semblance of realism. With the Swiss Family Treehouse, it was simple to imagine you were in an actual, habitable treehouse--and wonder where on earth the family had gotten to. You knew that, if you could just open the doors, you could live quite well up there (except for the small-bed factor--and the no bed for Francis thing, which wasn't very fair). With Tarzan, it is impossible to imagine that plastic maquettes are actual characters, that Tarzan or any other character from the movie ever had been (or ever would be) in the treehouse, or anything else approaching immersive realism. Sigh.

I knew female RO's who actually chose Treehouse for the summer because it wouldn't even break 100 an hour. Trips to the park now and I see guests climbing it all day long. Now, is Tarzan's better than Swiss Family, PERSONALLY: no, I have a history with the original. But it is the same experience just different window dressing.

I think they did a great job of updating the tree while keeping the essence of what was there before.
