After locating Cars Land, click on the little clock face in the tool bar at the top left. A bar with hash marks will drop down. You can select any "past" date marked, and view how the area looked then. For Disneyland, the earliest date is presently October 2, 1995. DCA is erased-- the old parking lot is in place. Then jump up to April 16, 2003 to see DCA in place, without Cars Land. Then June 5, 2009, with the first work being done on the outer edge of the parking lot. (And the waterfront park obliterated, as they prepare for World of Color). Next major date is November 14, 2009. Cars Land infrastructure is in place, and Golden Dreams theater is gone. And then there's March 7, 2011, the most recent date. Wish they would give us a new one! Buena Vista Street hasn't even been blocked off yet!

While ElecTRONica was nice, it just didn't have the spontaneous, non-branded atmosphere that you could find at Glow Fest. Plus, it was just darn fun. I can't think of a better word to describe it, but I never saw an "off" night; it was always full of all different kinds of people. In addition, it was just so completely unexpected that it really got some bonus points for the 'shock' value (not that anything going on was shocking, it was just unexpected). ElecTRONica was nice, but it felt very forced from the very beginning, with all the different stations. The movie preview was fun, until the movie came out, and they continued showing it for another 18 months. I never did the face painting, but there rarely seemed to be a crowd over there. The games were neat, but I'm not a gamer, so they didn't really appeal to me. The dancing was fun, but the stop-to-learn-a-line-dance moments were kind of awkward and killed the party atmosphere; Glow Fest's Bollywood dancers, on the other hand, showed the crowd countless easy moves without ever interrupting the flow of things. Plus, I was just never a big fan of the music choices at ElecTRONica; they got more mainstream the longer it was open, but there were rarely songs I was familiar with. I havent been to the Mad T Party (less than 6 weeks!), but I'm hoping it will be a lot of fun. I've experienced most of the various elements in one form or another (including the slinky guy, many many years ago during halftime at a basketball game), so I suspect that I'll enjoy it. I hope to enjoy it more than the previous versions, but Glow Fest was about as close to perfect as you can get, IMO.

Go figure.

Go figure.<< I'm hardly a hipster, but I fit the other categories. At least, I did until I moved at the beginning of the summer. I haven't had a chance to swing by (it's only a couple thousand miles out of my way now), but I'll certainly check it out over Labor Day. >>Glowfest ain't coming back. Deal with it.<< I am. The replacements seem like nice updates to the basic concept. I prefer the original, but the experiences really are pretty interchangeable. Like Pinocchio's Daring Journey and Snow White's Scary Adventure...

The band is very good and the overall production is top notch. The crowd of mostly teens and young adults was really into the show and it was clear that many of them were regulars. If I were a little bit younger (OK, a lot younger) I would have loved it.
