There's also an intriguing school of thought emerging that says if the polling doesn't change (that says she can't possibly win a general election) that she won't run, and instead concentrate on becoming the first female senate majority leader. <I know you are pushing for a moderate Democrat but you have to see with Lieberman getting the axe, that you are going to get ignored by your party.> I'm stickin' with my prediction that the dems go with one of the moderate governors/ex governors, partly BECAUSE they're governors. I also think that no matter how you read one CT race in 2006, it's a long way from 2008. I think a LOT of Americans will be in the mood for a moderate by 2008.

They need to stop whining about Bush and how terrible he is, even if it is true, and start saying how they will be better. Until they do that, I don't think they have a very good chance for the next presidential election.

Sorry Jon but this is a myth that uninformed people push on the country. Also, the defecit has shurunk under Bush and the government is getting more tax revenue than they ever dreamed of... because of the Bush Tax cuts. You go ahead and push for higher taxes though. The democrats are.

And it disappeared because federal spending was slowed by a Republican Congress. But then a recession started in 2000, and we were attacked. <6 years later, it's the largest ever.> Actually, I believe it's smaller this year than last. And as a percentage of the GDP, it's much smaller than it has been. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/14/AR2005101401167.html <Social Security and Medicaid are there as social safety nets, and were created for a reason.> They are still going to bankrupt us, if their increase is not slowed.

The democrats are." As I said, someone is going to have to pay for this deficit, and the last time we had one like this a REPUBLICAN president created the largest tax increase in history to cover it. That's what happened. And it's going to happen again.
