I'm not saying that I think Small World will be replaced any time soon, but attractions are much less permanent than hotels. If a hotel was built themed to, let's say 20,000 Leagues, it would have cost a great sum of money to try to retheme the entire property. Simply put, it's too risky of an idea. -With hotels based off of classic rides, there is a risk of overexposing the concept to the public. Even aside from the recent blockbuster movies, Disney attractions are cemented in American popular culture. Small World has already become the symbol for the annoying, repetitive ride that you know far too well. These hotels could have an affect along those lines, bombarding the public with images until they are so familiar that they become bad jokes. Aside that issue, I like the idea about an intensely themed hotel experience. It reminds me of the old idea of using ToT as a real hotel as well as a ride. The few rooms were planned to be "haunted," with decrepit decor and special effects such as ghosts appearing in mirrors. I've always thought this was brilliant in small doses. It's definitely not for everyone, but it totally redefines the term "service environment." It's totally immersive, making your entire vacation a trip into a completely different world. This could work out great at various Disney resorts. A new breed of luxury suites could provide guests with an experience that continues the theme of the hotel to extreme levels. This would have to be done only in expensive and selective luxury suites in part because of feasibility, and also because an elitist image would probably serve the concept better than a wide availability. Well, sorry if that was long-winded or pretentious, but there are my two cents. By the way, my name is Jonathan and I'm a hotel management student in Charlotte, NC. I absolutely love the idea of powerful service environments, and this is due mainly to my childhood memories of WDW. This had a role in my decision to study hotel management but has kept me a fan of Disney, other theme parks, and fabulous hotels. So, that's who I am, and I'm looking forward to joining this online community. Jonathan

Too much of a good thing.....that could be a concern. And although Potc themovie was a blockbuster, I wouldn't consider HM a blockbuster. It cost $125M between cost and advertising and took in $182M -- very good but surely not blockbuster... btw.. being new you wouldn't know but I have this 'little concern' over the 20K replacement attraction......a certain playground. But although my sarcasm machine was getting all cranked up to go off on a Pooh Playground themed hotel, I am going to keep it in check for now.
