Originally Posted By Mr X >>>What makes you think that people with means don't like Disney parks, and not just for their kids?<<< Well, I'd say that it's not so much an issue of "people with means" as it is the type of people who would want to go to DisneyWorld and stay at the four seasons. As you yourself said, you don't particularly care about such an extreme level of service (me too), but some people do. And those folks, I think, probably avoid burger joints and roller coasters too. Not all of them, of course, but I'd say maybe a large number of them. Like when you showed me the four seasons lobby in Vegas...just a completely different vibe from the rest of the strip. And, though interesting, I would rather stay at one of the flashy, "gaudy", fun places than at the four seasons. BUT, for someone to want to stay at the four seasons in Vegas, I would imagine it's got a lot to do with them wanting to elevate themselves AWAY from the flashy, gaudy stuff. Just a thought.

There are many, many, many (I know because I've spoken with some of them) folks who are well-to-do or just enjoy true pampering when on vacation who won't travel to WDW because of the level of service, even at the GF. Most GF CMs make similar weeks pay to those at ASM, CBR or WL ... you don't get five-star service for $7 an hour. You don't even get it for $14 an hour. Four Seasons, and the Waldorf Astoria, will bring many upper-end guests back to WDW or maybe here for the first time.

But apparently Disney believes they have seen the light and they simply can't have enough Value resorts. With the moderates, value resorts and Saratoga Springs; isn't the Walt Disney World property getting a bit over developed with generic "motel" room experience? Can we please go back to kewl inclusive resorts with interior corridors already?

Disney's primary motivation is to shift the hotel/motel geography of Orlando to the west. Right now, there is a large amount of lodging to the east of WDW, within a stones throw of Universal Studios and Sea World. By inviting hotel/motel/retail development to the western side of their property, WDW effectively gets visitors farther away from the other area attractions. That's the primary motivation here more than anything else.

One birthday, her husband gave her a shopping mall in Hollywood, Fla and told her she could keep the rents. My sister is one of the most down to earth people around. Their money has not effected them or their 6 kids.

And if it puts some pressure on Disney to get its act together and upgrade some of their hotel properties, all the better.
