Just don't tweet a photo of getting bigger. That causes NOTHING but trouble!

    Noted.

And by the way, I'm nothing special to look at. I'm just a middle aged guy who eats a healthy diet and takes Geritol once a day.

I appreciate your backup on another thread very much, and I believe you are a decent guy all around.

Truthfully, that's all that matters, no?

That's not how I remember it - and I was THERE, man!

I've always perceived a leftward tilt to the room, even during the Bush era. In fact, at that time it was easier because every week brought some new outrage from Bush and his administrtation. Very few people wanted to stand up and try to defend that actions and statements of the bushies - repeatedly and endlessly.

'Douglasdubh' gamely tried, but he was singularly bad at it. "I" could have done a better job of spewing daily talking points and linking to NRO than he did.

'Darkbeer' (RIP) was even worse - he'd post some new thread from an editorial that he liked, and then never respond to any of the comments his thread generated, either to defend it or critique it. We were all left to try and guess what he was thinking through inference.

And Beau was just rambling hateful nonsense.

Through all of this, I've always been open and vocal about my desire to see more right-wing posters - but those who could do it with some effectiveness.

We've had a few - and vbdad has been one of them. DAR also comes to mind - is he the guy from Georgia?

It's too bad that there's been some thorny exchanges, but that's no reason to pack up and leave. On the internet, anybody can say pretty much anything. You need to toughen up yer hide and not collapse anytime somebody posts something you don't like.

For my tastes, vbdad is welcome and encouraged to stick around. And so is skinner.

BTW - I'm going out of town for a few days, so I'll be outta the loop - workin' on my tan. Let's just let this blow over and stick to the important stuff, like sex scandals without any actual sex. This is what it's come to ...

I was DAR. DDMAN26 was my original moniker that I've chosen to resurrect. Like I said earlier I'm likely going to disagree with most here but I'm chosing my battles.

And gad, I think by mid-decade the tide had turned, but early in the decade (don't remember if you were here THAT long) there were indeed lot of conservatives, some of that immediate post-9/11 and early Iraq mindset of "you're either with us or not a real American.". Also, there were moderates like SPP and 2oony giving Bush the benefit of the doubt and even standing up for him until they just couldn't any more.

thanks gadzuux- I know we've chatted much in the pas-- and yes I admit I am right of center on financial/fiscal matter and very centrist on other mater- which is why I like to call myself a moderate as there really is no party that fits me today. I am a registered GOP so that I can vote in primaries in a predominantly GP county ( but changing) - -- but I never ever vote straight ticket..vote for best person- regardless of Dem/GOP or independent.

I also agree gadzuux that liberals were not in the minority during that time- there were however more staunch right wing posters... still not that many people in the proverbial middle.

I do want to stick around however mean spirited and dead wrong posts calling me a righ wing talking head- or the latest childish post -- repeating get rid of all unions hen I try and point out some of the issues facing governing bodies with regards to some pensions- is met with a childish stomping retort-- then I ask why bother. I represent a local school board and work with the feds from a consulting standpoint in conferences on such issues and understand the realties states are facing.. But mention a few as examples of what has to be rooted out and suddenly I am a tea bagger. really its that type of ratnting without a single fact to back it up- in fact my posts highlight exactly the opposite- that people like me do leave here.

most posters left of center here are very cool about things and debate great questions, but some feel theneed to scream when they have no idea what they're screaming about.. that's sad. We already have one goof on the far right- we don't need to counterbalance do we ?

I remember that time well, I took a break not only from WE for a while (things said on here made me sick, like defending the destruction of the Dixie Chicks CDs)but Lp as well, then someone showed me how to remove WE from my combine all view. So I did that for a long while until there were a couple of threads of interest pointed out to me.

Yep... my nephew, for example, has slimmed down a lot over the last few months since I last saw him (Christmas), as he's been eating healthier and grown another few inches.... 12 1/2 and so far 5'8"!

Nope, not dead... but he did post a thread yesterday updating us on how life is going for him & Lisa (the Mrs). As long as he's not talking politics, I get along well with him.
