Once I pointed that out, was there any apologizing for the mocking, or even an admission that what I claimed might be true? Nope.> That's because it wasn't true. The opinion piece used the JAMA piece as a source, but then reached conclusions the JAMA piece DID NOT REACH. I pointed that out, and said that your attempt to conflate the two (which you just repeated) was not right. That's a valid criticism. Which you whine is an "attack." < I only got flippant and "played debating games" when, in response to mine and other moderately conservative points, Dabob repeated liberal talking points and backed them up by pointing to a liberal opinion piece.> Well, this is instructive. My first post was 41, which anyone can go back and look at. It was in response to a DAR post, and something mawnck said; nothing you said at all - it really isn't all about you, you know. And I didn't "repeat liberal talking points," I simply gave my opinion on who the dominant voices are in the GOP right now. You can disagree and that's fine, but my opinion on this is as valid as any other. Then I went to a link that pointed out that FreedomWorks (the leading Tea Party Day sponsor) is run by Dick Armey, which is simply a fact. And then you responded to this entirely non-offensive post with the beginning of the nonsense: a two word "blinders on." No response to my opinion with your own opinion (which is what the boards are supposed to be), or any evidence that, say, Dick Armey DOESN'T run FreedomWorks... just the two-word nonsense, as though that could negate all that came before and make us "even" or something. It really is sub-schoolyard stuff ("nu-uh" would be as useful) and yes, I called you on it. And that made you whine about "attacks" again. And on and on it goes. I don't know why I even bother trying to get you back to where you were (others have stopped, and I don't blame them). But it may be useful for others to see where this started.

The nicest thing to see are a couple of new people, DyGDisney and piperlynne, with smart things to say. As for the OT (remember that?), I can speak to it, because I was for years a registered Republican. I dropped out of the party this decade specifically because I'm sick of seeing it dominated by the radio yahoos and the religious right. And I won't go back, even though I miss voting in primaries, until they are no longer the face of the party. Sometimes I think I should have stayed in, exactly so that I CAN vote in primaries and vote for the moderate--you know, the whole "change it from the inside" school of thought--but it's gotten so bad I just don't want to be associated with the party right now. And Mr. X is right that if you say something like this to the far right wingers, they call you an apostate and say they don't need you, they only need "real" Republicans. Well okay, you got what you wanted. I'm out. It's not fair to say that right-wingers collectively have gone insane, but I can see how someone could pose the question! They are giving the Republican Party a bad name, and when you look at polls showing the drop in people who call themselves Republicans, it's obvious I'm not alone in feeling this.

Well, you might be feisty too then because you just descibed me a "T".
