Yeah, and we've had corruption in the White House in our past, and we undoubtedly will again. The point is not that it doesn't happen, it's that it shouldn't happen, and shouldn't be allowed to continue when discovered.

No, it was the fact that they admitted they were doing things that had always been considered torture. Whether these things happened in the past secretly is immaterial - if we, i.e. the public, didn't know about them, then there wasn't anything we could do about it. But this stuff was front page news - and the president and his staff were on tv trying to justify doing this stuff. That's what's so outrageous - and to this day, they still think they were doing the right thing, and would do it again if we let them.
