For AA's that don't function? For blown out speakers on attractions that are left that way for months? When people are talking about poor maintenance, I don't think it's directed at day-to-day custodial issues which seems to be what you're referring to. Although the custodial issues are important as well and perhaps also not up to prior standards, they really are a separate issue.

It's the custodial stuff, like you said, is partly on the guests.

I remember when watching the Goofy Movie years ago, laughing at the scene where Goofy and Max are watching the broken AA gophers at a 2nd rate tourist attraction, laughing knowing they are poking fun at the competition. Fast forward to a couple of years ago, and the Country Bear Jamboree in the MK was almost in the same pitiful state. That's bad.

Look, I can totally enjoy my time in the MK while I can also acknowledge the problems and wish Disney would fix 'em. But I'm not going to boycot the place because I saw a full trashcan. Everyone has their own threshold, and while you have reached yours, dave, I'm nowhere near mine. So for someone to call me contemptible is way WAY over the line here. I'm not living with rose colored glasses on, nor am I an apologist or a defender of mediocrity (how I HATE that term!). But I'm not going to go into spasms of hatred every time I see a bit of trash on the ground. Do I wish Disney would do better on maintenance and refurbs on their parks? Of course. Am I going to let that get in the way of my enjoyment of the parks? Absolutely not!

Well frankly, I would rather spend my money where I will receive value. California still does it, I hear Japan does too, and we went to DLP a few months after the last DLP trip and Paris had better maintenance than Orlando (scary, since theirs is subpar). When a local park, Alton Towers has a more efficient monorail, or that hotels and restaurants in other locales offer better service and quality (the money is not really the issue here), then WDW has lost it. And it would not be too hard to get it back, that is the irksome point. It would not be hard for me to fall in love again. I was not the one to use the term contemptable, but I think Bob was on the money.

Recognizing the problem is the first step to fixing it, and differentiated opinions should be talked about, not shut down. >>Everyone has their own threshold, and while you have reached yours, dave, I'm nowhere near mine. As bad as we think it is...it's not terrible. There is still a general feel of quality and "specialness" to the Resort. That might be from their legacy, but notwithstanding, the guest experience as a whole is still second to none. Of course, if IOA keeps up with the Disneys, as they've been doing, that will change.

They make your average Exxon restroom look pitiful by comparison. And don't even get me started on the beauty of construction walls. To see them, it's almost like visiting the Sistine Chapel. No, strike the *almost*. It is a holy experience.
